Santa Ana Mater Dei took home the Challenge of Champions bracket championship, beating Corona Centennial in Sunday’s title game. Below is a breakdown of the All-Event Team, selected by myself, Ronnie Flores of Ballislife and Frank Burlison of Burlison on Basketball. We’ll start with the selections from the main bracket.
Julius Price, 2026, St. Joseph (Santa Maria) – Price had an impressive debut in a main stage event as the 6-foot-3 freshman flashed his long range shooting ability. Price knocked was a consistent threat from deep both off the catch and off the bounce and, perhaps more impressive than his shooting, was how poised he played against some of SoCal’s powerhouse programs.
Kade Bonam, 2025, St. John Bosco – Bonam is the picture of versatility for an underclass prospect. The 6-foot-7 forward has the ball skills and passing IQ to rebound the defensive glass, push the break and initiate offense at the four spot. Bonam can stretch the floor to the three-point line, beat defenders off the dribble for drives and finishes and has an interior scoring skill-set that allows him to expose mismatches inside.
Kevin Patton, Jr., 2023, Rancho Christian – Patton is a highly-regarded prospect who transferred to Temecula-based Rancho Christian from a high school in Arizona, and showed that his presence will elevate a solid Eagles roster. The 6-foot-8 swingman can stretch the floor with his smooth three-point shooting ability and put pressure on the defensive in half-court and transition settings with his isolation and dribble-drive scoring packages.
Tyler Rolison Tyler Rolison 6'0" | PG St. Bernard | 2023 State #150 Nation CA-S , 2023, St. Bernard – With back-court mate Darius Carr Darius Carr 6'3" | SG Fairfax | 2023 State #63 Nation CA-S ‘s transfer to Southern California Academy, the reigning Division 1 Player of the Year has even more responsibility and freedom this season. Rolison took full advantage of that last weekend as his attack mode mentality led to a highly potent offensive game. The 6-foot point guard was knocking down three’s off the bounce and slicing his way through the lane for difficult finishes around the basket.
Zack Davidson Zack Davidson 6'8" | PF Mater Dei | 2023 State CA-S , 2023, Mater Dei – The 6-foot-8 Montana-commit is the veteran presence on a young Mater Dei team and his steadiness on both ends will be important for the Monarchs to reach the success that they are used to. Davidson showed a little of every part of his game last weekend as he hit open three’s, flashed some touch on his jump hook inside and made high IQ passes both on the perimeter and inside.
