– Turner is a six-foot-eight-inch 2026 center at St. Paul Johnson. Turner has soft hands, and good feet around the basket. Turner is a traditional big man type making most of his offense inside and close to the rim. Turner plays through contact in the paint and doesn’t shy away from banging around in the middle. The big man scored 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds versus Park Center in December.

He may not have the flashiest game, but Kenny Turner simply produces. Against an Irondale frontcourt that featured 6’7 and 6’9 forwards, Turner’s effort on the glass was huge. He was battling for good position to secure a number of offensive boards, and used his strong frame to power his way right back up for two points on a handful of occasions. Just seemed to be in the right spots at the right times to make plays around the basket. Kenny did a nice job of holding his ground to prevent deep post position on the defensive end, and capped off the win with a transition dunk.

Kenny had a dominant first half on both ends in Friday night’s win for Grassroots Sizzle . He was simply overpowering defenders, starting off by pulling in an offensive rebound and going right back up, and then following that up by catching on the block, taking a power-dribble to get deep position, and then finishing over the top. Defensively he showcased good timing getting off the floor to block a couple of shots, and did a nice job of clearing out space with a box-out when rebounding. Physical presence with the type of strength not many guys at 6’8 can match.

Minneapolis Southwest was able to put some size on Kenny, but his physicality allowed him to score bucket after bucket right at the rim. It was the most aggressive I’ve ever seen him play, as he seems to becoming more and more confident in his ability to dominate in the paint. Had some physical buckets going straight through his defender, but also showed some touch getting into the center of the lane for a baby-hook or short jumper. Cleans up the glass, and is tough to move off of the block defensively.

Kenny had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds helping lead Johnson to a win over Highland Park. There were times where he was simply able to overpower defenders around the basket, and he did a nice job of finishing through contact when all defenders could do to try to stop him was foul. Really liked his fight without the ball to create angles that allowed his guards an easy way to get him the ball. There were a couple of times where he failed to box out and allowed smaller players to get a board in his area, but for the most part he does a nice job of using his size and strength to secure missed shots in traffic.

You can tell Kenny has been putting in work on his body, as he’s trimmed down and looks a lot quicker out on the perimeter. He did a great job of moving his feet and forcing a few turnovers out on the perimeter against an agile 6’10 big on Friday night, and still showed the strength to go to work on the block. Does a nice job of fighting for position and creating angles for easy entry passes, and from there has the touch to score from a number of angles off the glass. He really helped St. Paul Johnson control the paint as they rolled to a big win over South St. Paul.
