Continue ReadingMidwest Live was a great showcase event to see top Ohio talent with their high school team, while some of the stars were who I was focusing on, I also stumbled across some new names that impressed me enough to add to the list. In this article I’ll break down which new 2024 prospects stood out.
Jayson Levis Jayson Levis 6'1" | CG Lutheran West | 2024 State OH , 6’1 PG Lutheran West 2024: Levis was the most impressive player I’ll profile in this article as Lutheran West’s big off-season addition was putting in work for the Longhorns. Levis plays with good pace and has enough shake to get to his spots where he’s a capable pull-up shooter while contested. I also thought Levis made some toughness plays, whether that’s getting offensive rebounds or grabbing loose balls. Levis plays with a swagger that is infectious with the rest of his team and projects as a scholarship level prospect at either the Division II or NAIA level by next spring.
Sean Harmon Jr Sean Harmon Jr 5'10" | PG Winton Woods | 2024 State OH , 5’10 PG Walnut Hills 2024: Despite playing without Tyler McKinley Tyler McKinley 6'9" | PF Winton Woods | 2024 State #78 Nation OH , Walnut Hills had an impressive weekend in Sandusky and the play of point guard Sean Harmon Jr Sean Harmon Jr 5'10" | PG Winton Woods | 2024 State OH was a big reason why. Harmon was difficult to keep out of the paint and made outside shots to score points efficiently all weekend. I was also impressed with Harmon’s point guard leadership for his team, playing next to Javion Bostic Javion Bostic 6'2" | SG Winton Woods | 2023 State OH , a major returning contributor from last year’s conference title squad.
Reece Raymond-Smith Reece Raymond-Smith 6'5" | SF Stow | 2024 State OH , 6’5 SF Stow 2024: On a Stow squad that really opened my eyes, Raymond-Smith was an impressive piece of a senior laden squad that could be a sleeper this winter. Raymond-Smith shot the ball well from the outside and had good size to play either forward spot. Another small college prospect on Stow for college coaches to watch this winter.
Max McClellan Max McClellan 6'5" | PF Saint Edward | 2024 State OH , 6’5 PF Saint Edward 2024: McClellan shined on a new look St Edward squad that had some impressive performances this weekend Vs top tier Michigan squads. McClellan stood out for his feel for the game, making smart passes and knowing where to be on the court. Not the best athlete but McClellan was in control from the forward spot and finished around the basket. McClellan is the type of player who helps you win high school games and will be adored by small college coaches.
Elijah Hudson Elijah Hudson 6'8" | PF Lexington | 2024 State OH , 6’8 PF Lexington 2024: Hudson is the biggest project on this list, but has the highest ceiling of any player mentioned in this article. Hudson was throwing down windmill dunks in warm-ups as the 6’8 forward can fly through the air. In the games, Hudson has a ways to go with his production and understanding of the game, but the talent is obvious. This is a prospect who you could look back in four to five years and he really figures out how to use his athletic tools at the next level. Hudson also knocked down a 3-pointer from the top of the key, showing some potential shooting ability.
