The speedy floor general looked ready to take a junior year leap at multiple times during the Irish’s win over the Cyclones. He had it going off the dribble early, hitting in the mid-range. Including a tough look at the free throw line to end the first frame. Schaffer’s strong play to end the first would start a theme of him having the ball in his hands late each quarter. Late in the second quarter he pounded the rock in a similar manner but instead of forcing a jumper, he found an open teammate for a triple. And late in the third, he extended the lead with a great finish at the rim.

The offensive production carried over into energy on the defensive end, as he was an energetic defender, using his quickness to harass ball handlers. A big junior year seems to be on tap as McGuinness looks to make noise in a new look Class 4A.
