Midwest Showdown: Top Wisconsin GameChangers
At the conclusion of each tournament, a new recurring article will be the ‘GameChangers’ series – sponsored by GameChanger. Prospects included in the GameChangers series will be prospects that really positively impacted games for their team.
Here are some top GameChangers from this past weekend:
Jamisen Young Jamisen Young 6'0" | PG Sunrise Christian Academy | 2023 KS — PG — World Hoops Elite — 2023
I love where Young’s game is at right now. He has made a lot of developments and it is clear that he has put in a lot of work. The point guard is super fast and shifty. He uses these athletic gifts to blow by defenders and get layups at the rim. Young has also made serious strides as a shooter. He was able to make a number of difficult three-point shots this past weekend.
Prentice Young Prentice Young 6'4" | CG Wisconsin Lutheran | 2023 State #273 Nation WI — SF — Wisconsin Playground Club — 2023
Still working his way back from an injury, it appears that Young is starting to get comfortable again. Before his injury, the SG was one of the best prospects in the state. And now that he is healthy once again, Young has shown a lot of promise. He is a lockdown defender and efficient scorer in the midrange. If he can stay injury free, Young is no doubt a college-caliber prospect.
Caleb Glaser Caleb Glaser 6'6" | SF Appleton East | 2023 State WI — PF — Wisconsin Crusaders — 2023
Glaser is a force in the paint. This past weekend playing for a loaded Wisconsin Crusaders team, the power forward did a lot of the dirty work. He rebounds well, blocks shots, sets screens, and finishes well around the rim when given the opportunity. Overall, Glaser is a fantastic post prospect that has a lot of potential and upside.
Cody Schmitz Cody Schmitz 6'4" | SG Gale Ettrick-Trempeleau | 2024 State WI — SF — PM UA Rise — 2024
After watching him play the past two weekends, there is no doubt in my mind that Schmitz is one of the smoothest pure scorers in the state. The small forward has great positional size, which he is able to use to bully smaller defenders in the paint. In the paint, he does a solid job of finishing layups with either hand. On the perimeter, Schmitz is an efficient shooter who doesn’t miss too many open looks.
Mason Prey Mason Prey 6'4" | CG Newman Catholic | 2023 State WI — SG — Wisconsin Playmakers — 2023
It seems that Prey just does everything right on the basketball court. The shooting guard is a winning player that makes winning plays. He is a three-level scorer who knows how to get timely buckets. I like how Prey is able to just take what the defense gives him. He doesn’t ever push too much. Whatever is open, he will gladly take.
Will Hornseth Will Hornseth 6'8" | PF De Pere | 2024 State #208 Nation WI — F — Wisconsin Blizzard — 2024
Hornseth has officially established himself as one of the best post prospects in Wisconsin’s 2024 class. The 2024 power forward has a handful of great post moves he can turn to on the block. He is also a rapidly improving shooter from the outside and dominant rebounder If he continues to develop his game, I think that Hornseth could be a double-double machine.
