Guards
PG Joseph Bean Joseph Bean 6'3" | PG Kennedy | 2024 State IA (Xavier)
A big, physical lead guard who doesn’t shy away from contact around the rim, Bean can also stretch out to the arc and looks equally comfortable shooting it off the dribble or the catch. He’s a good ball-handler and passer who sees the floor well, and he does a nice job playing with pace. He’s a physical defender who looks to get up into opposing ball-handlers and really make them work.
SG Kyle Lamonte Kyle Lamonte 6'3" | SF Rock Island | 2024 IL (Davenport North)
An athletic 6-2 guard, Lamonte looks to attack the rim constantly. He has good length, is a plus-athlete, and uses his quickness to blow by defenders and get to the rim. He’s a good ball-handler who could emerge as the go-to scoring threat as early as this season for the Wildcats.
PG Owen Larson Owen Larson 6'1" | PG Estherville Lincoln Central | 2024 State IA (Estherville Lincoln Central)
A 6-0 lead guard with an excellent feel for the game on both ends of the floor, Larson is equally adept scoring or facilitating. He’s a strong two-way player with a high IQ who was a standout at this event last year as a freshman.
PG Treyton McCain Treyton McCain 6'1" | PG Decorah | 2024 State IA (Decorah)
A quick, long, and athletic lead guard who impacts the game on both ends of the floor, McCain was a key contributor for a very good Vikings team as a freshman last season.
PG Grant Uecker Grant Uecker 6'3" | PG Urbandale | 2024 State IA (Urbandale)
A knockdown shooter off the catch, Uecker does a great job moving without the ball in his hands, finding spaces in the defense to get his shot off with a quick, smooth release. He handles the ball well and can get into the teeth of the defense and facilitate for others as well. When he gets it going, there are few in the 2024 class who will be able to match him shot-for-shot.
PG TaeVeon Stevens TaeVeon Stevens 6'1" | PG Iowa City West | 2024 State IA (City High)
An athletic 6-1 guard, Stevens had a huge summer scoring for Waterloo Salvation and looks to be a contributor for the Little Hawks as a sophomore. He can create his own shot and get to the rim, or shoot it off the dribble or the catch. We’re looking forward to checking out this dynamic scoring threat.
PG Trovary Cavil Trovary Cavil 5'11" | PG Johnston | 2024 State IA (Des Moines Lincoln)
A score-first lead guard coming off a very productive freshman season in which he averaged 15 points in the CIML, Cavil can fill it up from all three levels, showcasing an excellent mid-range game. He’s a good passer who sees the floor well and he has a good feel for the game. As he continues to mature, he should become a more efficient player, which was already evident in his play at the Winterset Shootout in June.
SG Mason Costello Mason Costello 6'3" | SG Waukee | 2024 State IA (Waukee)
A big wing who had some huge outings playing up with Pure Prep’s 17U team this summer, Costello can stuff the stat sheet and fill it up from all three levels. He finishes well around the rim and is a knockdown shooter from behind the arc.
PG Luke Hart (Waukee Northwest)
The younger brother of former Waukee standout Noah Hart, Luke has a pretty similar guard to older brother. He has a good feel for the game, is a solid passer who sees the floor well, and he can knock down shots routinely from behind the arc off the dribble or the catch.
PG Carson Johnson Carson Johnson 5'11" | PG Ankeny | 2024 State IA (Ankeny)
Johnson was a strong contributor for the Hawks last season as a freshman, averaging 8.1 points and 1.4 assists while knocking down 42% of his 3-point attempts. He’s a talented ball-handler who changes speeds well and uses a quick first step to get to the bucket. As he continues to mature physically, he’ll become a better finisher at the bucket. He’s a high-level shooter from the arc both off the dribble and the catch.
