Stone Bureau Stone Bureau 6'0" | PG Calvary Christian Academy, Ft. Lauderdale | 2024 State FL | 6-0 | Suncoast
This freshman guard is already showing signs of being a premier defender for his Suncoast squad. Stone showed an ability to play exceptional on-ball defense when at the top of the key. Also did a great job of challenging shots at the rim & getting blocks without fouling—which is sometimes hard for shorter guards. Loved what Stone was able to produce on the defensive end.
Henry Hurst Jr. Henry Hurst Jr. 6'0" | CG East Lake | 2023 State FL Jr. | 6-0 | East Lake
East Lake has a defensive X-factor in Hurst Jr. His stocky build allows him to keep ball-handlers in-front of him when they try to bolt past him. Hurst’s another shorter guard who does an awesome job at earning blocks at the rim all while making sure his arms don’t come down to foul the shooter. Look out for Hurst Jr. as he starts his sophomore campaign.
John Gamble John Gamble 6'4" | SG Charlotte | 2023 FL | 6-6 | Charlotte
Another sophomore with the potential to be something great, Gamble is going to be a problem on both ends of the floor for years to come. His length thwarts the possibility of guards penetrating the paint, or feeding the post with a bounce pass for a hopeful score. He can break-up the play and force turnovers, with ease. Couple this with his ability to block shots in the paint, and Charlotte will have a star in the making.
Camerin James Camerin James 6'5" | CG Leesburg | 2023 State FL | 6-5 | Leesburg
James is a guy that was very subtle about the way he played defense. He actually showed an ability to play solid weakside defense & kept his head on a swivel the entire time. Any time the ball would swing away from him, he’d play the gap well—pointing one finger at the ball, another at his primary defender. When the ball swung back to his man, James was quickly in his chest, every time. This 2023 wing is developing a high defensive IQ right before us.
Kervin Knaggs Kervin Knaggs 6'1" | PG Auburndale | 2023 State FL | 6-1 | Auburndale
The sophomore definitely gave a great effort on D when it came to checking the guards, but he really shined on the defensive glass more than anything. It didn’t matter who was in the paint, short or tall, Knaggs doesn’t hesitate to use his physicality and thrust himself in-position to grab the rebound. He gave his squad a few extra possessions when they could’ve easily been offensive boards for his opponent.
