Adrian Cruz | 6-2 | Southwest Miami
When I think back to Adrian’s game, the word “ACTIVE” immediately comes to mind. Cruz is an exceptional driver to the cup and an equally great cutter to the basket. He’s not afraid to attack the paint and draw contact for and-ones. From the wing, he showed how he can hit the mid-range jumper, as well as the three-ball. Going into his junior season, look out for a breakout year from Cruz.
Jamin Primus Jamin Primus 6'0" | CG Fort Myers | 2021 State FL | 6-1 | Fort Myers
Primus came to the Expo and made an impact on both sides of the ball. Offensively, the senior holds a solid jumper and knows how to get past defenders to drive it to the cup. Also, when attacking the rim, his timing on the kick-out pass to open shooters is among the best. He set up a few key jumpers by doing just that. On defense, he was great at forcing steals which created opportunities for fast-break points. Loved the energy, all around.
Saquan Carswell Saquan Carswell 6'1" | CG Springstead | 2022 State FL | 6-3 | Springstead
This 2022 guard’s defensive game stood out amongst the rest. Carswell’s hands stayed active, resulting in some key deflections and frustrating on-ball D. In transition, he’s able to earn chase-down blocks and makes it tough for opponents to score off-the-drive. On offense, Carswell’s a solid passer when underneath the three-point line. He did an awesome job setting up teammates to score in the paint. A capable low-post scorer in his own right, Carswell should be a focal point for Springstead in a couple of months.
Denzel Luna | 6-2 | Timber Creek
If you want to talk about a guy who was arguably the most vocal hooper at the Expo, talk about Luna. Loved how comfortable he sounded calling out screens & encouraging his teammates—guys he just met, that day! The senior will take you to the hole and finish, with ease. He has the ability to take the bumps on the way to the rim and get a bucket. If he misses, he’s able to leap right back up and get his own rebounds. Couple that with his ability to hit the trey, and we should see Luna light up the court when the season, starts.
Elijah Andrews Elijah Andrews 6'3" | CG Forest Hill | 2021 State FL | 6-3 | Forest Hill
Listen, this senior guard was a problem for defenses, all day. Andrews was tough to stop from penetrating the paint for quick layups. His jump-shot stayed consistent, knocking down midrange J’s and three-balls throughout the game. Andrews isn’t selfish, either. He did a great job at involving teammates & earning his assists. Defensively, he can rattle ball-handlers resulting in steals for his squad. Excited to see how he’ll impact Forest Hill in his final year.
