The Minnesota class of 2023 talent..... where are all those top players? We run you through the names now as we look back and check in on these guys who are in their fourth season of college hoops!
Chatman played only part of his first year because of injury, missed his second year to injury, and then last year he got his chance in the rotation and had some quality performances scoring the ball in the middle of the season. Chatman is now a red-shirt junior at Utah where he will get his chance to be a main scoring option. Chatman has made 28 of 66 threes in his career scoring on nearly 43 percent of those attempts.
Winter has had an excellent career at Wisconsin starting 67 of 104 games. Nolan has been a full time starter the last two seasons and last year a junior Nolan put up 13.1 points and 8.5 rebounds a game.
Nolan was fourth in the Big Ten in rebounds per game last year and ranked second in the Big Ten with 12 double-doubles. Winter hot 69.9 percent from two-point range ranking tenth nationally.
Highlights
Boden is at his third high major school in four years as he a frontcourt transfer to Nebraska. Last season Kapke averaged 10.6 points and 5.9 rebounds as a part time starter for a bad Boston College team. Two years ago Kapke was a part time starter for Butler averaging four points and three rebounds a game (Boden played at Butler for two seasons). Now a Husker, Boden will be a contender for a starting spot along with South Dakota State transfer Damon Wilkinson.
At Lehigh, Nasir averaged five a game as a frosh, ten a game as a sophomore, and 20 a game as a junior. He is now at Georgia Tech and while I don't expect him to score 40 a game (math joke!), I do think Whitlock is going to a good player for the Yellowjackets. Nasir is a career 40 percent three point shooter in college.
Jack red-shirted his first year and has been playing 10-15 minutes a game off the bench the last two years in a hard working player's role. He's went from a Badger walk-on to a Wisconsin rotational player the last two seasons. Should have a similar role this winter.
Highlights
Tommy has played in a total of 17 games in his three combined seasons at Furman and St. Thomas. The hope is that he is fully healthy and able to get into the rotation this winter as a fourth year player.
Collin red-shirted his first year and then played two seasons at Chattanooga before transferring to Utah State. Collin started 14 of 59 games the past two seasons making 46 percent of his field goals, 30 percent of his threes and 79 percent of his foul shots. Scored six points a game as a frosh, 7.6 points a game last year as a sophomore.
Max picked a football career and for the second straight year Max is the Gopher back-up quarterback. Last weekend Max three three passes and completed them all totaling 50 yards. Max also ran for a touchdown last weekend. Last year Max threw for a touchdown and ran for one as well.
Highlights
Red-shirted his first year at Drake, played in seven games as a red-shirt frosh at NDSU, and then this past season Bath averaged three points and three boards for Concordia-St. Paul.
Aligbe went east to a prep school for a year reclassifying to the 2024 group. He played 12 minutes a game at Southern Illinois as a freshman and then averaged 9.5 points and 7.4 rebounds a game last year as a sophomore. Rolyns is now a junior at Xavier playing at the high major level.
Ben led the Northern Sun conference in scoring, averaging 21.1 points per game and shooting over 39 percent from the arc for Concordia-St. Paul. Ben then transferred to Appalachian State where he now has two more years to play.
