Sophomore ID Camp: Prospects Trending In The Right Direction

The ID Camp gave us another chance to see several names we already knew, and they made sure the second look was worth it. This group brought energy, confidence, athleticism, scoring ability and versatility, giving us plenty of new reasons to be excited about their futures. We saw players expand their games, showcase skills in different ways, and provide flashes of what they can become. After what they showed throughout the day, it's clear these players are trending in an exciting direction.    Verna was one of the players who caught our attention with his ability to impact the game without needing the ball in his hands. He moves well off the ball, uses screens effectively and consistently finds ways to create separation. Once he gets an opening, Verna got into his shot quickly and smoothly, showing confidence and rhythm as a shooter. After what we saw at the showcase, he's a name we're excited to continue tracking. His movement, shot preparation and efficiency give us plenty of reason to believe there's more to his game to come     McCoy was an intriguing athlete to watch at the showcase, showing off long arms, strength and the athleticism to finish around the basket. He has the physical tools to make an impact on both ends and showed flashes of being a capable playmaker when he put his focus on setting the table for teammates. Those moments stood out, as he displayed the ability to make plays beyond simply scoring. With his combination of length, strength, athleticism and developing feel, McCoy is a name we're excited to continue watching moving forward     Smith gave us another reason to keep an eye on his development with the way he attacked the game in transition at the Showcase. He consistently looked to get out and run, creating opportunities by beating defenders down the floor and finishing plays at the rim. His willingness to push the pace gave him chances to make an impact without needing a ton of touches. The energy he brought in the open floor stood out, and we're excited to see how that part of his game continues to develop     Rainalter showed several qualities at the showcase that made us want to keep a close eye on his continued development. He consistently looked to get out and run in transition, ran the floor hard and used timely cuts to create opportunities. His movement without the ball helped open up the offense and gave teammates additional space to operate. Rainalter's willingness to stay active and create movement stood out throughout the day. After what we saw at the Showcase, he's a name we're excited to continue following as his game develops     Thatch showed the versatility and athleticism that made him an intriguing player to watch at the showcase. He got out and ran the floor in transition, using his athleticism to make some impressive reverse finishes around the basket. Thatch also displayed the ability to play and defend multiple positions, using his body well to create advantages. Offensively he showed the ability to score at all three levels and knock down shots from the perimeter. His combination of size, versatility and offensive skill gives us plenty of excitement about where his game can go next     Howell is a player we've seen more and more recently, and he gave us plenty to like at the showcase. He can put points on the board in a hurry, using a quick handle and burst to break defenders down and get into the paint. What really shines about his game is his ability to play the point, keeping teammates involved while still being a scoring threat. Howell has the tools to make things happen with the ball in his hands, and after this performance, we're even more excited about what's ahead for him     Hasselbach gave us plenty of flashes at the showcase of why his potential is so intriguing. He used his speed and athleticism to make plays, showed his strength when attacking and finishing and displayed the versatility to impact the game on both ends of the floor. He used his size and power to create problems while also showing an ability to score and defend multiple positions. There were stretches where all the pieces came together, and that's what makes him so exciting. Once Hasselbach does all of this consistently, watch out     Hendricks might've been one of the more fun players to watch at the showcase, giving us plenty to like with the depth of his scoring package. He showed the ability to score in a variety of ways, knocking down pull ups and jumpers while also using floaters and his ability to attack the rim. Hendricks has multiple answers when defenses try to take something away, and that versatility makes him a tough cover. The more we watched him, the more impressed we became with his ability to consistently find ways to put points on the board
