Rounding out the Top 5 in the 2029 Rankings Update

The 2029 ranking is finally here, and we've seen these prospects during the high school, Spring, and Summer ball as well to go off of, and this is a pretty deep class that we feel will have plenty of changes throughout their time. Here are the top prospects in the 2029 class that we've seen with high expectations for the year.    Elias not only led the state in scoring as a Freshman but the entire country at an incredible 44.3 points a game. He was exploding for insane games and had video game numbers and took that into a Summer that we got to see him a few times, and he stood out in those moments. Elias had a solid game or two in our event. He performed well in Colorado Live and had a 40+ point game, and took the show on the road and competed against some of the top players in the state in showcases and playing with various teams in the club scene. We did see others give him their best shot each time out, and it was fun to see how he adapted to that. Hopefully, this season showcases the type of playmaker and defender he is right now, but goes in as the top Sophomore in the state still.     Valdez, in my opinion, has the hardest job in the entire state. Each night out, he's playing against one of the top teams in the state, with his team being an underdog each time out, and he truly competes in each one. He's in incredible shape, he's reading and adjusting to double teams, and still finds a way to get to his spots. What stands out for me specifically is even though he has to have INCREDIBLE games for Smoky Hill to be in games, he still makes the right play and reads. This Summer, he played 17U ball, and it looked the same. It was refreshing to see him not have to do it all, and he could make a pass and a teammate go and make the right basketball play. He picked up his first offer heading into the season and has high expectations. He comes in as the No.2 player in the class.     Lucas was a double-digit scorer and led his team in points, steals, and assists as only a Freshman with even higher expectations heading into his Sophomore season. He was 2nd in the entire class in points in 6A and found ways to be effective every night. This Summer we saw him go undefeated in our Prep Hoops events while showing that he sees the floor well, is a 3-level scorer, and makes plays for others. Lucas battles in every game, and we even saw that with him having a very solid EYCL showing as well, which put him on more radars. Big year ahead for him. He moves up to the No.3 player in the class.     Cache is another player who played exceptionally well as a Freshman for Montrose as he showed that he has no problems adapting to the speed and physicality of varsity, where he showed that he's a solid player out there. But what he was able to do at EYCL showed that the 6'8 PF might be the state's best hidden gem. I'm curious to see the type of season that he has and the buzz that he generates. In all of EYCL, he averaged 15 points and 6.8 rebounds a game with some big-time performances that surely turned heads. We don't see much of him throughout the year, so it was great to see that his game translates, and it's only a matter of time before the rest of the state understands. He comes in at No.4 in the class and surely has room to rise even more with a big season.     Marshall makes a pretty significant jump in the rankings after his solid season, where he was a starter as a freshman while making a significant contribution to a talented Denver East squad. He's a 6'4 versatile small forward who can play multiple positions, he spaces the floor with his outside jumper, and he also has soft touch inside. This summer, he showed that he's one of the top players in the class, and that is while playing up an age. He had some LOUD games with us in the building against some of the top players in this class and kept that going throughout the entire summer with [program_tooltip program_id='2955433' first='Colorado' last='Collective']. He battles on both ends of the floor, has a mean face-up game, grabs boards in bunches, and steps up in those moments. I'm curious to see how he brings that into the season and how his game continues to grow, but he rounds out the Top-5 with plenty of people vying for his spot.
