Here’s who could build their stock at the Freshman Showcase

The spring and summer gave us plenty of first impressions, but the best prospects keep stacking performances. This group earned our attention over the last few months, and this will be our last look at them before we head into the high school season. We want to see more of them, and here's their opportunity to build on that. Here's who we think can boost their stock with big performances at the Freshman Showcase. Lock in now!    Ramey is a player who we were big on this summer, as he was a player who separated himself on the defensive end of the floor, and those players are prospects to build around. He played off instincts, pushed guys to work harder, and that helped his team get a few wins that got him on our top standouts list. Now we want him to bring the same energy to our showcase while adding that he's an all-around player, and there's more from when we last evaluated him. I think he's capable of jumping on more radars, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to.     Benavidez is a player who earned attention at Mile High Madness earlier this Summer and what stood out was his ability to do the little things that stand out in ways you don't see from all prospects. He's a hard-nosed player who battles for rebounds, dives for loose balls, and his teammates followed suit. Getting out to the showcase is a chance for him to show there's more to his game, and he can build on what we already saw from him as a name to know moving forward.     Dean has been a player I wanted to get another look at since he had his moment at the Centennial State Cup, where he was one of the standouts on the weekend and put his team in great positions. While he played extremely well there, I still feel that there was more to his game. He showed flashes of being able to score in bunches, battling on both ends of the floor, and showed up in their best games. This is a spot where he can continue proving himself and showing that that wasn't a fluke, but he's a name to know.     Walker is a player I am curious about, as he was a tone-setter the last time we saw him. He took over the scoring load at times, he played both on and off ball, and they put the ball in his hands and let him operate. I liked him as a playmaker who made reads and didn't back away from moments, and now he gets to show that in a showcase setting. I'd like to see if we see that same aggressiveness again because his game has a chance to keep climbing with another strong showing.     Woods popped on our radar earlier this Summer with how he processed the game, made plays for teammates, and also used his bigs in PnR situations to get to his spots. He was a consistent standout that we went to go watch in multiple games, and we saw the same results, which lets us know that there's something special there. Now we want to see how it's grown and seeing if he has added pieces to his game that will make the game come easier for him and, even more importantly, if it changes in a different setting. This is a prove-it spot for a player we feel will be on more radars very soon.     Steppenbacker is coming off a really productive performance at Mile High Madness, and with it being so new, I'd love to see him ride that momentum. We saw him be able to show a relentless motor, grab boards and start the break, attack downhill, and open up the floor a bit, and another solid weekend could further push him onto more radars. I want to see how he competes against other freshmen and show that he's a balanced prospect that can be a name to follow.     Crosby got on our radars earlier this summer as a fluid athlete who can score in bunches and also applied himself defensively as a standout. He pressured the ball, turned opposing guards over, and sped guys up, and that's an edge that showcases need. I'd like to see him bring that same defensive identity to the showcase and push guys while showing that that can be where he makes his mark. We want to see Crosby get out and prove that he's a name worth following.
