On Friday August 14th, rising 9th and 10th graders from PA, DE, and NJ came Abington Friends for an elite camp run by college coaches. Here are some of the big wings and forwards who caught my eye:

Without amassing a ton of counting stats, Brown stood out due to how well he used his physical tools and played with toughness. He blanketed opposing forwards in the post with his wiry strong arms and protected the rim when they and others challenged him inside. Brown was a major factor on the defensive glass as well.

Playing with and against more well-known forwards, Fitzpatrick fit right in. He instantly added value on the offensive glass with second-chance points and on the defensive glass after blocking shots. Fitzpatrick showed flashes of skills too, catching and facing from the elbow and beating his man to the cup off the bounce, in addition to finding angles to score over post defenders with his footwork.

Garner's broad and sturdy frame masked his well-rounded talent and game. With great timing and hand-eye coordination, he brought a physical presence to his team by blocking several shots and altering a dozen more. But he also displayed some finesse, spacing the floor and initiating transition offense with long outlet passes.

Jones didn't need anyone to set him up or feed him the ball in the post: he simply made winning plays by out-working everyone. He played hard from end-to-end, hustling down the floor for transition baskets and generating even more with the turnovers he forced. And in the halfcourt, Jones created opportunities for himself by diving or cutting to the hoop and by crashing the boards.

He's still growing into his body and learning how to maximize his physical tools, but Reed's potential is understandable. With vines for arms, he was an automatic deterrent in the paint on defense. And, on offense, he chipped in on the glass with put backs.

Fluid shot-creation and shot-making made Wells extremely fun to watch. Matched up against forwards his size, he drugged them out into the deep end and cashed pull-up threes over their outstretched arms. Wells was just as precise in the mid-range, getting to his spots off the bounce, then effortlessly getting his jumper off.
