Class of 2030 Wings Headline Watch List

***Use Code “ScottyB30” for 30% off your subscription*** Time to dive into our initial PHI 2030 Watch List!  This is a list of 35 prospects that have showed promise of future potential in settings where our scouts evaluated throughout the spring and summer.  We know there are a ton of players we need to see and will see going forward!  This is just a VERY EARLY look at the class.  Also this is NOT A RANKING!  There is no order. Prospects in this position preview are listed alphabetically!   Here are the Wings in Prep Hoops Illinois first 2030 Watch List!    Carter looked to be one of the best prospects in this class early in the process. At about 6'3” with a good build and plus athleticism he can play both the one and two. Understands how to use his physical gifts to his advantage over powering weaker guards while being a creative finisher at the rim. The Joliet West guard is a plus three point shooter off the catch while shooting it off the bounce as well. Quality on ball defender that rebounds for his position. Lot of tools in the toolbox at a young age.     Carter is a 6'2” wing that has solid size where he should continue to grow into a small forward long term. Best when being assertive playing off the bounce for strong takes, spotting up from deep, along with being an impactful wing defender.     Carson is the third of the Carter prospects at Joliet West who will look to make an impact this upcoming season and beyond. Like his twin Connor he has quality positional size and some projectability to be a two way prospect down the line.     Cooper Jr popped to us when we saw him in July with the Fire as an uber athletic scoring guard with a sweet mid-range game along with the athleticism which allowed him to convert in the paint. Impactful defender that turns steals into points.     Craig is a rangy left handed two guard with some projection. Like how the ball looks as a shooter from three along with a solid float game. Should continue to grow vertically and get stronger.     Humphrey has a mature game for an incoming freshman who played well with Breakaway up on the 15U level along with his high school team in June. Skilled guard who can handle it, dish, and be a quality defender. The size and length will make him playable right away as a freshman.     Irvin popped during July for Pac Elite as a 6'4” wing with quality size and bounce around the rim. The guard lived in the paint with his crisp ball handling and aggressive moves to the rim.     Jackson is the younger brother of former Simeon star Zach Norvell. The 6'3” guard has a strong build along with quality burst with the rock in his hands. Like how he locks down on the perimeter then flipping it to scores in transition.     Meier is a long and lanky 6'4” small forward from St. Laurence who has a chance to be one of the better wings in this class. The size and skill level really standout early in the process. Plus shooter off the catch that wins off the bounce getting to the line. Runs the floor with purpose!     Moore is one to watch in the 2030 class for Marist. The defending champs are getting a 6'2” two guard who has a good feel for the game with a long and lanky frame. Fluid finisher with soft touch finishes while also being able to stretch it to three.     Morris could very well be the best player in this class and debut at the top spot a year from now. The Bloomington product looked every bit the part of a big time prospect when we saw him playing up at the 16U level with Royalty Hoops in the spring. Projectable kid with a clean looking three point shot. His ability to score off the bounce really impressed as he consistently gets two feet in the paint for buckets along with trips to the charity stripe. Already can put multiple moves together off the dribble for scores. Sound passer that you can just tell he sees the game at a different level for someone his age. Athleticism plays on the defensive end covering a ton of ground laterally and vertically.     Murkey jumped out to us in June with Belleville West as a combo guard who can be effective both on and off the ball. Instinctual passer that makes quality reads at a young age. The lefty has a sweet looking shot and is slippery hitting creases in the defense winning in one on one situations. Plus rebounder that really defends for an incoming freshman. Impact day one guy for the Maroons!     The 6'5” incoming freshman shined playing up three levels in July for Fueled by Faith. Lefty wing looked more than comfortable out there as well. He drained five three balls in one game against Outwork. Really like the shot prep here as he is always ready and has a lightning quick release getting it out of his hands. Understands how to get open and lets it fly with confidence.     Rias opened eyes in June with O'Fallon as a 6'3” two guard with broad shoulders and long arms. Can create his own shot off the bounce getting in the lane for euro steps or earning trips to the line. Nice mid-range game as well draining mid-range jumpers and turnarounds.     Simmons is looked at as a core piece of the future at St. Laurence. The physical tools are impressive with his broad shoulders, height, and physicality at the guard spot.     Smith is the son of the best high school coach in state history. He is a stud prospect in his own respect and one of the best early in the process. The 6'2” two guard has an advanced feel for the game at such a young age. The wiry wing wins putting it on the deck at will where he has excellent body control drawing fouls and converting at the same time. The rock has energy when it is in his hands as he shows burst with the ball getting to the cup in transition. Sound shooter both pulling up and off the catch from three that should continue to get even better in this area long term. Passing instincts are there hitting open shooters or finding his big man on the fly out of the dunker spot. Quality perimeter defender that consistently made an impact on that end throughout the spring and summer.     Zepeda is a 6'2” two guard that can also play some on the ball. Could be the next standout guard for Rock Island. Playing a key role for varsity already at a young age he can hold up physically while still having a ton of room to grow. Sweet jumper along with being able to handle it in both the half court and transition.
