As we update the 2027 Rankings after what was an incredible summer of basketball there are certainly some major shake-ups due to a few different contributing factors. We've had players move in and out of the state which has led to some big changes (especially at the top) along with that formidable 17u summer showing us a whole lot about these prospects across the State of North Carolina. Without further delay, let's take a look at some of the top risers in this latest rankings update for the 2027 Class!

Connor takes the cake for the top spot in this latest 2027 update after what was an incredibly strong summer for the tweener forward out of Forsyth Country Day. With Jordan Page making the move to IMG Academy and Connor tearing up EYBL Competition this summer, it was pretty obvious that Connor should be in true contention to make the leap to the top spot. For [program_tooltip program_id='2226228' first='Team' last='CP3'] 17u on the EYBL, Connor averaged 14.5 Points, 8.5 Rebounds, 1.2 Assists, 1.4 Steals, and 1.0 Blocks per game while shooting 57% from the floor. Connor plays a direct game, largely predicated on the effort he brings to the table at both ends of the floor. He wants it more than other guys, is in elite shape, and knows how to use his frame to directly impact the game in so many ways. He elevates your floor as a team with his presence and can be used to help fill different gaps teams may have in their lineup. He's gotten a bevy of offers from programs like Houston, Illinois, NC State, and Michigan State so it's easy to see why Connor slots in as the top prospect in North Carolina's 2027 class.

The art of building momentum for yourself and seizing your moment is something that a lot of prospects take for granted but that is not the case with Williams who had as good of a July as you can ask for with 1 of 1 17u on the Pro16 Circuit. Up at the Richmond Session in front of what felt like 100+ college coaches, Williams was on another level as he and his 1 of 1 team went toe to toe with Cooz Elite out of Texas, a group that features consensus top 20 national prospect Reese Alston. Williams would win the matchup and the game, further cementing his status as a bonafide division one prospect. It also showed us that Williams is hitting his stride as a player, he's always been really good, he's now taking another step and has launched himself into the top five of the class in the process. Williams has gotten a handful of offers after his strong play in the live period and should continue to get more and more interest in the recruiting world.

Mason is a guy that has made a massive jump into the top ten from the 70s and that's partially because we were too low on him in the last update and he's proven himself to be a bonafide division one talent as he's a true swiss army knife on both ends of the floor. Mason also rose in the rankings like this without even playing in the month of July due to injury so there's no telling where he'd be if we were able to see him again during our trip in Richmond. Mason had such a strong June with Southlake Christian as his game continues to round into form and that is largely what led to his jump in the rankings as he's proving himself to be a no brainer division one prospect.

Boyer has made a huge leap into the top 20 and after such a strong June with Concord Academy it was obvious he belonged there. The Frenchmen doesn't play travel ball so it was vital for him to deliver in that month and he absolutely did. Boyer is a premier shooter in this 2027 class here in North Carolina along with showing the ability to impact the game in other ways. He can operate out of ball screens and make plays for his teammates, help out with his length defensively and on the glass, all while maintaining the threat of pulling up from anywhere on the floor. His production and efficiency in the month of June was special as he's poised for a monster senior season at Concord Academy.

Conti rose 12 spots in the rankings, largely due to the way that he's been able to improve his body since the last update with it directly translating to a bigger impact on the game. After a strong June with his Millbrook squad, Conti rejoined his [program_tooltip program_id='2078500' first='Garner' last='Road'] 17u teammates for the July 3SSB stretch and flat out shined in his role amongst that talent laden group. Conti hit a huge game winner vs Southeast Elite as his ability to stretch the floor at his size, contribute on the glass, and hold his own defensively in the front-court was on full display. I think Conti will continue to trend upwards as we go through the upcoming high school season as a big man with the ability to shoot it with efficiency from beyond the arc.

Palmer rose almost 20 spots as he started to show more and more layers to his game this summer with [program_tooltip program_id='2375668' first='SW15H' last='Elite'] 17u UA Rise. Chase showed the ability to operate above the rim with consistency all while maintaining his inside/out skill as a guy that can make shots from deep or bully the opposition on the block as a bruiser. He can make plays for others as a passer, use his physicality on the glass, and is reliable in the dunker spot to finish above or below the rim. The improved athleticism and steady touch from the outside make Chase's outlook even greater than before as he's a bonafide next level guy that frankly is scholarship worthy.
