PH National Open Championship | Saturday Standouts Pt. 2

The Prep Hoops National Open Championship continues on with Day 2 of the Event at the Pacers Athletic Center in Westfield, Indiana. Here is Part Two of the Saturday Standouts from the Prep Hoops National Open Championship:    One of the top players in the state of Minnesota put on a fundamental clinic in front of me on Saturday at the Prep Hoops National Open Championship. Bryce Gaustad is a 6'9” Point Forward type that showed his ability to impact games on both ends of the floor. Relentless rebounder. Pure inside-out skill set that makes him dangerous when he's not scoring the ball. Showed the ability to play the pick and roll with good court vision and on time on target passes to open shooters. Not the most athletic big man but elite footwork and feel for the game was extremely impressive for a player his size.     The stock rising summer of [player_tooltip player_id='2766818' first='Dontae' last='Barnes'] continues. The Evansville Bosse Guard playing for WeDifferent 812 showed his scoring ability, but his leadership qualities is what stood out. He's becoming more of a vocal leader. He's taking defensive challenges and excelling. On top of all that, he's an elite shooter with in the gym range, and once he gets going, there's not much you can do to stop him. Becoming a more well rounded scorer off the dribble. His middle game improvement is just as good as his outside shot now. Would like to see him develop more as a creator for others, but for now, he's one of the top guards in Southwest Indiana heading into next season.     Keyae Lacy of Simeon High School and Geek Squad 17u put on an absolute show in the second half in the team's win on Saturday. The uber athletic 6'3” guard got showed his feel and made some jaw dropping plays above the rim. Quick first step getting by his guy and exploding to the rim to throw down one of the weekends nastiest dunks and following it up with a block on the other end and answering with an and-one finish. Smooth offensive player with good feel. Has great length and athleticism making him a game changer on both ends of the floor.     One of the better scoring performances I saw on Saturday was from Northview Guard [player_tooltip player_id='2879163' first='Levi' last='Carr'] playing for Indiana Elite Gold 16u - Elliot. Carr is a smooth guard comfortable playing on or off the ball. Showed his playmaking and scoring in his team's narrow loss going on a run in the first half finishing with 16 points making four 3's. Really good in the pick and roll. Plays at his own pace and has a shiftiness to him that allows him to get to his spot and has the size to rise up over defenders in the midrange.     Not many players in the in-state class of 2028 I like watching more than [player_tooltip player_id='2617841' first='Dominic' last='Fey'] of Jimtown playing for [program_tooltip program_id='3587267' first='Indiana' last='Impact'] - Smith. Confident offensive player that at times makes the game look easy on that end. Versatile with the ball in his hands. He's capable of being a facilitator, but thrives in being aggressive looking for his shot. Long 6'3” sniper from the outside, but takes what the defense gives him. Recognizes mismatches and does whatever he can to exploit. Patient in the mid-post and really good facing up. Stronger than he looks and is able to body up his defender and finish around the basket with either hand.
