We recently updated our 2027 class rankings in Virginia, with it being one of the deepest rankings I have been apart of in my 10 years with the Prep Hoops VA site. We will take a look at some of the top players in each region of the state from a positional standpoint, with a look at the top power forwards and centers in the Richmond area.

#8) [player_tooltip player_id='2370724' first='Keaton' last='Gregory'] | 6'9” C | Trinity Episcopal

Gregory has been one of the top players in the Richmond area since his freshman year at Trinity, and one of the best parts about his journey is that he's improved in a lot of the areas he's needed to over that time. At 6'9” with long arms he's learned how to get more physical and use his length to finish in the paint, he has become a very consistent shooter from deep and in the midrange, he is a good passer and unselfish both on the perimeter and out of double teams, and he is a terrific anchor on the back end of the defense too.

#50) [player_tooltip player_id='3275784' first='Donovan' last='Stinney'] | 6'6” PF | Henrico

Stinney is coming off of a big junior season and will head into his senior season as one of the more intriguing prospects in the Richmond area. The 6'6” forward brings good size and strength when he's banging in the post, he can stretch the floor with good touch as a shooter, he's athletic in the open floor and explosive finishing around the rim, and he can guard multiple positions as well.

#53) [player_tooltip player_id='2470584' first='Maddox' last='Patrick'] | 6'6” PF | Trinity Episcopal

Patrick is a two sport star who also thrives on the football field, and when it comes to mismatch big men in the Richmond area you won't find many who are more difficult to deal with than him. The 6'6” forward is able to drill shots and put it on the deck on the perimeter, he can post up smaller defenders and score over both shoulders, he can rebound on both ends and start the break, and he's a very good passer for his size too.

#59) [player_tooltip player_id='2548293' first='Conner' last='Wilcox'] | 6'6” PF | Atlee

Wilcox has had a great high school career so far, as he helped Atlee win their first state championship his sophomore year and has been a three year starter and All Region all three years too. The 6'6” forward is super skilled with the ability to knock down shots from deep at a high clip, he works well in the high post where he is a triple threat guy, he has great touch around the rim with both hands, and he gives a ton of effort on both ends too.

#71) [player_tooltip player_id='3275771' first='Jovin' last='Johnson'] | 6'7” PF | Glen Allen

Johnson has been one of the biggest stock risers of the summer so far, as he's shown a ton of improvement and has been highly productive for a Loaded Gold team that has yet to lose a game so far. At 6'7” he's a big time athlete who can run the floor and plays above the rim with authority, he rebonds the ball well on both ends of the floor, he's showing improvement on his touch from deep and ability to put it on the deck, and he plays with a great motor on both ends of the floor too.

#73) [player_tooltip player_id='3275748' first='Bodi' last='Corley'] | 6'7” C | James River

Corley is another big time stock riser in the Richmond area so far, as the 6'7” big man has been putting up numbers for Team Richmond so far this year. At 6'7” he plays a bruising style in the paint with the ability to outmuscle smaller defenders, he is an explosive finisher around the rim, he's showing improved touch out to the three-point line, and he is switchable and a good rim protector too.

#106) [player_tooltip player_id='2898030' first='Abram' last='Schrinel'] | 6'6” PF | Freeman

Schrinel is one of those new school hybrid forwards who thrives with his ability to create mismatches and make plays for himself and others, and coupled with a good motor it makes him very hard to deal with. He can take defenders off the bounce and get to spots in the midrange and make tough shots, he rebounds very well for his size especially on the offensive end, he can finish in traffic with both hands, and he brings great energy doing all the little things you ask a player to do.

#140) [player_tooltip player_id='3651530' first='Pierce' last='Rempe'] | 6'6” PF | Atlee

Rempe emerged this past year as a player to watch for on Atlee, as he pairs up very nicely next to Wilcox as another versatile big but he thrives a little bit more in the paint. He's a sneaky athlete who can get up and down and plays above the rim off the catch and in transition, he has good touch around the rim and out to the elbows, he isn't afraid to be physical on either end, and he still has a lot of room to get better moving forward.

#155) [player_tooltip player_id='3417820' first='Kyle' last='Tracy'] | 6'8” C | Cosby

Tracy is your classic project big man at the high school ranks, as he still has a lot of things to work on moving forward, but he shows a lot of intangibles that you like as well. He plays very hard on both ends of the floor, he rebounds very well in and out of his area, he's a good rim protector with timing and a good help side defender, and when his offense catches up he could be a late bloomer/

#162) [player_tooltip player_id='3651534' first='Jack' last='Bateman'] | 6'9” C | Glen Allen

Bateman is Johnson's running mate both in high school and in AAU, and he fits pretty well with him as he may not be as athletic but he's a very skilled scorer in the half court. He can post defenders and uses fakes and counters to get open looks, he finishes well within 10 feet with both hands, he has touch out to the elbows, and he can challenge shots at the rim too.
