A reclass into the current junior class, Johnson averaged 15.3 points and 8.5 rebounds per game for Team Loaded Gold during July. He is a strong, versatile forward who uses his physicality and above average athleticism to finish effectively around the basket. Johnson is also a capable shot maker when given open looks, adding another dimension to his offensive game. He played up with Team Loaded 3SSB Gold this summer, who finished as the 7th best team in the country on the Adidas Circuit, and Jovin is a big reason why with his overall abilities. He can score from all 3 levels and has taken great strides in his offensive game to be able to beat his defenders off the dribble or to knock down open jumpers. Jovin is a great defender who can guard multiple positions and does a great job of blitzing ball screens to disrupt with his length. He has a non-stop motor that is known as his calling card. As he continues to develop, he has a legitimate chance alongside some other strong players to be considered the Virginia Prep League player of the year if he continues where he left off from this summer.

Jovin has quickly asserted himself as one of the biggest stock risers in Richmond regardless of class. He was a standout at Glen Allen High School and recently transferred to The Collegiate School and reclassified to the class of 2028. Jovin has been transforming his game this summer and becoming the complete player many believed he could one day become. He is a versatile forward who excels on both sides of the ball; he is great at scoring in transition, scoring downhill, scoring inside, and has really developed a consistent jumper from 3 and the mid-range. He has already been known as an elite athlete and great defender, but this summer he has taken major leaps offensively by becoming a better scorer and ball-handler. What isn’t talked about enough about his game is his high IQ and selfless approach; he had multiple double-double performances but added in 4-5 assists on multiple occasions. He is a matchup nightmare for opposing teams because he is hard to stop inside and is also quick enough to get downhill and finish over top of defenders. He recently received his first offer to Winston-Salem State, a Division 2 school, and has received a lot more interest from other scholarship schools. Be on the lookout for him this season at Collegiate as a potential player of the year candidate.

Jovin Johnson Jovin Johnson 6'7" | SF/PF Collegiate School | 2028 State VA averaged 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game on Day 1 and showed why he is one of the top 2028 players in VA. Jovin played above the rim, in transition, and scored well inside. He shot beyond the 3-point line at a high percentage and often got downhill against both teams. Jovin is developing nicely and looks like a sure thing for a Division 1 offer.

Jovin scored in a variety of ways by getting downhill, posting up, scoring in transition, and knocking down jumpers. Jovin averaged over 15 PPG and nearly 10 RPG on the weekend. He was one of the top 2028 prospects in the building and really made his presence felt on both sides of the ball. He is a high-motor wing/forward that Division 1 programs should invest in now.

Jovin isn’t a new name for most, but his stock is really starting to rise as he reclassified and transferred to the Collegiate school and is now in the 2028 class. Jovin had his first showing with the Cougars at the VCU team camp, and he fit in seamlessly. He makes the right reads and plays, whether it’s to knock down the 3, attack closeouts, or find his teammates. He had a double-double performance in 2 out of 3 games last weekend and had a 5-assist game. He’s been a big reason why Team Loaded 3SSB Gold is 28-0 on the year. He can play any position and excels on or off the ball. He can score in transition, in the post, or create his own shot. He will be a wing that college coaches will want to get a look at early. Many D1 programs have expressed interest already. 

Jovin was dominant at the event, showing his physicality and versatility to guard and play multiple positions. Jovin had multiple double-double games and some big-time plays. Jovin has been one of the biggest stock risers this summer, and he came away from the event with every college coach circling his name. Jovin is known to have a non-stop motor, which is rare to come by in bigger forwards nowadays. I fully expect Jovin to become a scholarship player and continue to dominate the rest of the summer. 

Few players helped themselves more over the weekend than Jovin Johnson Jovin Johnson 6'7" | SF/PF Collegiate School | 2028 State VA . The 6-foot-7 forward continued the strong stretch of basketball he has been playing this spring and looked every bit the part of a high-level prospect.

Johnson averaged 14.5 points and 7 rebounds per game while helping Team Loaded Gold capture the championship. His impact went far beyond the box score, but his production was impressive nonetheless. He posted a dominant 23-point, 10-rebound, 2-steal performance in a 73-50 victory and followed it up with 18 points and 15 rebounds in the championship game, showing his ability to take over on both ends of the floor.

What continues to stand out is Johnson’s versatility. He has the size to battle inside, the athleticism to finish above the rim, and the mobility to guard multiple positions. He runs the floor extremely well, rebounds at a high level, and consistently creates extra possessions through effort and toughness. Over the last two weekends, Johnson has looked like a player turning a corner. His confidence continues to grow, and so does his overall impact on winning.

With his combination of size, athleticism, and upside, Johnson remains one of the most intriguing forwards in Virginia’s 2027 class. If he continues developing at this rate, his recruitment is only going to accelerate.

A strong, athletic, high motor forward, he consistently impacts winning with his physicality, effort, and production. Johnson thrives around the basket, where he finishes everything around the rim and plays through contact. He is a relentless rebounder who attacks the glass on both ends of the floor, creating extra possessions and setting the tone with his toughness and energy. While his work around the rim remains his greatest strength, he has also shown the skill to step away from the basket and knock down open jumpers out to the three point line, adding valuable versatility to his game. Defensively, his strength, athleticism, and competitiveness allow him to guard multiple frontcourt positions and play with consistent intensity. Johnson will once again be counted on to lead a talented Team Loaded Gold squad during the July evaluation periods.
