Johnson had a breakout summer and decided to transfer to Collegiate and reclassify to the 2028 class, and he’s primed to have a big season as he continues to show improvement and become a walking mismatch. The 6’7” forward is a big time athlete who gets downhill aggressively and plays above the rim with authority. He can score it in the post, he’s improved a lot in his perimeter skillset, and he plays with a great motor on both ends off the floor as well.

Jovin Johnson Jovin Johnson 6'7" | SF/PF Collegiate School | 2028 State VA is now a 2028 prospect who continues to show why he’s one of the top 2028 prospects in the region. He played for the CBG Premier team and averaged 22 PPG and 10 RPG over the weekend, helping his team go 3-1 and compete at a high level against some very talented teams. Jovin has a strong feel of when to attack the rim off the dribble or when to use his size and score in the post, Jovin scored often in transition, and also knocked down multiple 3 pointers on the weekend displaying he can score from all three levels. He can defend any position and can alter shots around the rim but has really improved as a switchable defender being able to guard 1-5 effectively and shut down the opposing teams best player.

Johnson continues to impress after a big summer leading Team Loaded Gold to the 3SSB championship, and now that he’s reclassified to the 2028 class and has another year to develop it’s going to be interesting to see how his recruitment picks up moving forward. At 6’7” he has a rapidly developing skillset which he showed off by hitting some shots from deep and putting it on the deck, he’s an explosive leaper and plays above the rim with authority, he is a good rim protector who can switch defensively as well, and while he’s still figuring out how to incorporate his new skillset he plays with a great motor that makes him consistently productive on both ends of the floor.

A reclass into the current junior class, Johnson averaged 15.3 points and 8.5 rebounds per game for Team Loaded Gold during July. He is a strong, versatile forward who uses his physicality and above average athleticism to finish effectively around the basket. Johnson is also a capable shot maker when given open looks, adding another dimension to his offensive game. He brings consistent production to the glass and uses his strength and activity to rebound effectively on both ends of the floor.

Jovin Johnson Jovin Johnson 6'7" | SF/PF Collegiate School | 2028 State VA is a new face to the Collegiate Cougars squad and has already made a name for himself as a legitimate Division 1 prospect and has been receiving interest from numerous programs. He played up with Team Loaded 3SSB Gold this summer, who finished as the 7th best team in the country on the Adidas Circuit, and Jovin is a big reason why with his overall abilities. He can score from all 3 levels and has taken great strides in his offensive game to be able to beat his defenders off the dribble or to knock down open jumpers. Jovin is a great defender who can guard multiple positions and does a great job of blitzing ball screens to disrupt with his length. He has a non-stop motor that is known as his calling card. As he continues to develop, he has a legitimate chance alongside some other strong players to be considered the Virginia Prep League player of the year if he continues where he left off from this summer.

Jovin has quickly asserted himself as one of the biggest stock risers in Richmond regardless of class. He was a standout at Glen Allen High School and recently transferred to The Collegiate School and reclassified to the class of 2028. Jovin has been transforming his game this summer and becoming the complete player many believed he could one day become. He is a versatile forward who excels on both sides of the ball; he is great at scoring in transition, scoring downhill, scoring inside, and has really developed a consistent jumper from 3 and the mid-range. He has already been known as an elite athlete and great defender, but this summer he has taken major leaps offensively by becoming a better scorer and ball-handler. What isn’t talked about enough about his game is his high IQ and selfless approach; he had multiple double-double performances but added in 4-5 assists on multiple occasions. He is a matchup nightmare for opposing teams because he is hard to stop inside and is also quick enough to get downhill and finish over top of defenders. He recently received his first offer to Winston-Salem State, a Division 2 school, and has received a lot more interest from other scholarship schools. Be on the lookout for him this season at Collegiate as a potential player of the year candidate.

Jovin played above the rim, in transition, and scored well inside. He shot beyond the 3-point line at a high percentage and often got downhill against both teams. Jovin is developing nicely and looks like a sure thing for a Division 1 offer.

Jovin scored in a variety of ways by getting downhill, posting up, scoring in transition, and knocking down jumpers. Jovin averaged over 15 PPG and nearly 10 RPG on the weekend. He was one of the top 2028 prospects in the building and really made his presence felt on both sides of the ball. He is a high-motor wing/forward that Division 1 programs should invest in now.

Jovin isn’t a new name for most, but his stock is really starting to rise as he reclassified and transferred to the Collegiate school and is now in the 2028 class. Jovin had his first showing with the Cougars at the VCU team camp, and he fit in seamlessly. He makes the right reads and plays, whether it’s to knock down the 3, attack closeouts, or find his teammates. He had a double-double performance in 2 out of 3 games last weekend and had a 5-assist game. He’s been a big reason why Team Loaded 3SSB Gold is 28-0 on the year. He can play any position and excels on or off the ball. He can score in transition, in the post, or create his own shot. He will be a wing that college coaches will want to get a look at early. Many D1 programs have expressed interest already. 

Jovin was dominant at the event, showing his physicality and versatility to guard and play multiple positions. Jovin had multiple double-double games and some big-time plays. Jovin has been one of the biggest stock risers this summer, and he came away from the event with every college coach circling his name. Jovin is known to have a non-stop motor, which is rare to come by in bigger forwards nowadays. I fully expect Jovin to become a scholarship player and continue to dominate the rest of the summer.
