Expert Analysis
Riley Highfill | Prep Hoops Scout
Jovin isn’t a new name for most, but his stock is really starting to rise as he reclassified and transferred to the Collegiate school and is now in the 2028 class. Jovin had his first showing with the Cougars at the VCU team camp, and he fit in seamlessly. He makes the right reads and plays, whether it’s to knock down the 3, attack closeouts, or find his teammates. He had a double-double performance in 2 out of 3 games last weekend and had a 5-assist game. He’s been a big reason why Team Loaded 3SSB Gold is 28-0 on the year. He can play any position and excels on or off the ball. He can score in transition, in the post, or create his own shot. He will be a wing that college coaches will want to get a look at early. Many D1 programs have expressed interest already.

Jovin was dominant at the event, showing his physicality and versatility to guard and play multiple positions. Jovin had multiple double-double games and some big-time plays. Jovin has been one of the biggest stock risers this summer, and he came away from the event with every college coach circling his name. Jovin is known to have a non-stop motor, which is rare to come by in bigger forwards nowadays. I fully expect Jovin to become a scholarship player and continue to dominate the rest of the summer.

. The 6-foot-7 forward continued the strong stretch of basketball he has been playing this spring and looked every bit the part of a high-level prospect.
Johnson averaged 14.5 points and 7 rebounds per game while helping Team Loaded Gold capture the championship. His impact went far beyond the box score, but his production was impressive nonetheless. He posted a dominant 23-point, 10-rebound, 2-steal performance in a 73-50 victory and followed it up with 18 points and 15 rebounds in the championship game, showing his ability to take over on both ends of the floor.
What continues to stand out is Johnson’s versatility. He has the size to battle inside, the athleticism to finish above the rim, and the mobility to guard multiple positions. He runs the floor extremely well, rebounds at a high level, and consistently creates extra possessions through effort and toughness. Over the last two weekends, Johnson has looked like a player turning a corner. His confidence continues to grow, and so does his overall impact on winning.
With his combination of size, athleticism, and upside, Johnson remains one of the most intriguing forwards in Virginia’s 2027 class. If he continues developing at this rate, his recruitment is only going to accelerate.

Johnson continues to trend upward and appears poised for another significant jump in our next rankings update. A strong, athletic, high motor forward, he consistently impacts winning with his physicality, effort, and production. Johnson thrives around the basket, where he finishes everything around the rim and plays through contact. He is a relentless rebounder who attacks the glass on both ends of the floor, creating extra possessions and setting the tone with his toughness and energy. While his work around the rim remains his greatest strength, he has also shown the skill to step away from the basket and knock down open jumpers out to the three point line, adding valuable versatility to his game. Defensively, his strength, athleticism, and competitiveness allow him to guard multiple frontcourt positions and play with consistent intensity. Johnson will once again be counted on to lead a talented Team Loaded Gold squad during the July evaluation periods.

. The 6-foot-7 forward can play the 3, 4, and 5. Jovin has great hands and is always ready to catch the ball, similar to a great wide receiver. He has a strong and accurate skip pass. While previously raw, he’s starting to really put it all together. And if he’s anywhere near the basket, he is going to dunk it.

over the course of the spring, one thing becomes very obvious: the growth is real.
Johnson put together arguably his strongest overall weekend of the spring and looked like a completely different player in stretches throughout the event. He played with confidence, aggression, and an understanding of when to take over.
The championship game was where everything came together. Johnson finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds while proving nearly impossible for opposing defenders to contain. Whether it was attacking the basket, finishing through contact, or controlling the glass, he consistently made his presence felt.
At 6-foot-7, Johnson possesses physical tools that immediately stand out, but what was most impressive this weekend was how comfortable and confident he looked offensively. He wasn’t forcing action. He let the game come naturally and attacked opportunities as they presented themselves.
Then came the moment everyone in the gym noticed.
Johnson threw down a windmill dunk that immediately energized the building and served as a reminder of the athletic upside he possesses. Plays like that grab attention, but his complete performance is what made the difference.
The motor, physicality, rebounding ability, and improved offensive confidence were all on display. For a player who has clearly made strides throughout the spring, this weekend felt like another major step forward.

is one of the more intriguing long-term prospects in the region because of the tools and upside he possesses physically. Long, athletic, and extremely active, Johnson impacts the game in ways that don’t always show up immediately in the box score. His motor alone separates him from a lot of players his age.
Johnson controls the glass, protects the rim, and consistently runs the floor hard in transition. What makes him especially valuable is his offensive versatility. He’s comfortable handling the ball, making passes on the move, and finishing plays above the rim. He’s a double-double threat every time he steps on the floor and continues to improve rapidly. With his athleticism and nonstop energy on both ends, Johnson is absolutely a college-level prospect whose best basketball is still ahead of him.
