We recently updated our 2029 class rankings, and in my 10 years of working for Prep Hoops VA this one is looking like it could be very special. With 75 players ranked currently, we take a look at part two of the prospects in the Richmond area.

#30) Jeremiah Robinson | 6'4” SF | Trinity Episcopal

When it comes to pure upside in the 2029 class, you won't find many who have more than Robinson who is just scratching the surface with how good he can be moving forward. The 6'4” wing has very good ball skills for a young player his size as he can be a primary ball handler and is a good playmaker as well, he has long arms and a frame that should fill out nicely moving forward, he's a good finisher when he gets downhill using his length to finish at the rim, and he has all the tools to be a lock down defender at the next level too.

#32) Locke Bailey | 6'3” SG | Banner Christian

Bailey was a big part of Banner Christian's run to a state championship last year starting every game for them as one of their top scorers on the season, and he showed a lot of poise and guts in the championship weekend with big performances. The 6'3” wing has good size and a strong frame which he uses to create and finish through contact, he's a knock down shooter from deep with good range, he can put it on the deck and get to spots in the midrange to knock down pull-ups, and he brings toughness on both ends of the floor.

#40) Jordan Grant | 6'2” SG | Hermitage

Grant is a player to watch develop over the next few years, as he showed flashes of brilliance his freshman season and has a lot of tools that will be translatable to continued development. He has a good frame and is already a good athlete who will get more explosive as he grows into his body, he can knock down open shots off the catch, he reads defenses well and moves well off the ball, and he plays with a good motor crashing the glass and on the defensive end.

#49) David Smith | 6'7” PF | Hermitage

Smith is one of the more intriguing prospects in the Richmond area in this class, as he's already 6'7” with a good frame and could possibly still be growing. While he's still somewhat of a project he has a good motor and is willing to challenge shots at the rim and use his physicality to box out and rebound. He shows good hands and feet in the paint, he has soft touch around the rim, and he does a lot of the dirty work most players aren't willing to do.

#54) Elijah Wright | 6'3” SF | Carmel School

Wright was solid as a freshman for Carmel School but really has had a breakout summer as one of the top players for Virginia Elite 15U. He's a good athlete who plays with a big time motor on both ends of the floor, he can knock it down from deep with good form and good range, he can push in transition where he's a good finisher and can make plays for others, and he already has a good frame and could still be growing.

#55) James “LJ” Johnson | 6'1” SG | Varina

Johnson is part of a young but talented Varina backcourt that will wreak havoc on the Richmond area over the next few years, and speaking of havoc he's having a great summer with VA Havoc 15U this year. The 6'1” guard has a tight handle and is shifty allowing him to break down defenders in isolation, he can knock down shots from deep off the catch, he sees the floor well and makes plays for others, and he's a kid who looks like he's still growing as well.

#69) Julian Trotter | 6'5” C | Colonial Heights

Trotter is an intriguing player to watch over the next few years, and it will be interesting to see if he will choose football or basketball to focus on because it's possible he'll have a shot to play in college at both. While he's still raw he brings a big impact to the game defensively with his ability to wall up and his timing to block shots in the paint, he rebounds well on both ends of the floor, he plays with a good motor and is a physical presence, and he shows good touch for a big his age and his stage in development.
