Minnesota Magic Tops [program_tooltip program_id='2078449' first='Meanstreets' last=''] National 16U as 2028 Guards Duel

Fun one to open the morning at 8 AM as Minnesota Magic beat [program_tooltip program_id='2078449' first='Meanstreets' last=''] National in a 16U contest 62-53. There were a pair of breakout performances with one coming on each side. Minnesota Magic got a monster showing from Cam Moore. The 6'2” guard from Eastview (MN) proved to be a rangy and feathery backcourt player that could let it fly from anywhere as he hit six threes in the game finishing with 22 points. Played both on and off the ball showcasing solid passing feel and instincts. Another Minnesota product Austin Rieckens out of Rosemount (MN) goes 5'11” with a flame thrower as well from deep along with scrappy defense and passing in half court as he notched 15 points.

For [program_tooltip program_id='2078449' first='Meanstreets' last=''] National it was all about Mi'cah Eddings. The 6'3” shooting guard from Fenger is primed to jump into our next rankings update as he has a well built frame and length. Poured in an array of feathery pull ups and turnaround jumpers on the baseline. Showed some burst with the ball in his hands on straight line takes and got to the line for 19 points. Few prospects from Hansberry to track on this team. Kam Smalley is a projectable 6'3” small forward that was active with his second jump on the glass and defending all over the floor. Ronald Beavers is a strong bodied undersized post that outworked opponents on the glass at 6'3” with his positioning and relentless motor. [player_tooltip player_id='2546039' first='Kayden' last='Houston'] is a smaller guard that plays taller with his tenacity sneaking in for put backs.

[program_tooltip program_id='2622592' first='Flight' last='Athletics'] 16U Opens Day with Win Over Rockford Elite

We stayed in the 16U pools as [program_tooltip program_id='2622592' first='Flight' last='Athletics'] won an in-state contest against Rockford Elite 74-68. Plainfield East strong bodied wing [player_tooltip player_id='2837052' first='Kaleb' last='Baptiste'] is a tank at 6'0” with a defensive end type build. Powers his way to the hoop and proved to he an effective rebounder as he had 11 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2410234' first='Zion' last='Dawson'] stepped up in the second half especially closing out the game with his free throw shooting. Good passing lead guard at 5'7” from Joliet West that sets up the table with his speed, quickness, and vision. He had 14 points. Elijah Shegog was in attack mode getting downhill for floaters off hesi dribbles and transition scores netting 17 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='3587106' first='Sam' last='Briggs'] from Hononegah was spectacular keeping Rockford Elite in the game. The 5'9” point guard is a shifty ball handler that scored off the dribble along with getting hot with the jumper in the second half. His speed and blow by ability are his biggest strengths as he had 27 points in the loss firmly putting his name in discussions for a ranking in our June update. [player_tooltip player_id='3640500' first='Kevin' last='Salser'] also from Hononegah is listed as a 6'3” wing that has nice size and a clean looking shot from beyond the arc along with a solid overall feel for the game as he went for 16 points.

Wisconsin Playmakers Make Easy Work of [program_tooltip program_id='2078449' first='Meanstreets' last=''] National 17U

One of the most fun teams we saw on Saturday was Wisconsin Playmakers East Premier 17U as they put on a clinic of team ball in a 71-26 W against [program_tooltip program_id='2078449' first='Meanstreets' last=''] National. Hortonville (WI) 5'11” guard Reid Van Epps was money early and often in their victory from deep. Quick and consistent release and mixed it up defensively as he scored 18 points. Jaden Vanhandel also from Hortonville (WI) goes 6'1” and finished very well in transition and knocked in multiple threes for 14 points. Another Hortonville standout was Nathan Tousey as the 6'3” wing got on the glass for second chance points and finished around the cup along with playing off his defense scoring 12.

[program_tooltip program_id='2078449' first='Meanstreets' last=''] lone standout in this one was Romeoville 2027 wing [player_tooltip player_id='2390391' first='Khevel' last='Diambuana']. Super quick to the offensive glass as that is where the majority of his points came. Has some burst on straight line takes too going for 12 points.

[program_tooltip program_id='3593033' first='Brook' last='Town Force'] 17U Scores Win Behind 2029 Guard

We saw [program_tooltip program_id='3593033' first='Brook' last='Town Force'] get the W over Uptown Select out of Seattle 52-42 in a fun contest. Aiden Jimenez put his name on the map with a strong performance as the Elmwood Park 5'10” point guard is a crafty lefty that is slick with his handles getting to his spots for baseline jumpers, but it was mostly his shooting off movement from three that was on point as he dropped a quartet from deep en route to 21 points against players multiple years older than him. Isaiah Manual is an unsigned senior from Elmwood Park who played with physicality on slashes and finishing out of dunker spot for 14 points.

Few prospects to note on Uptown Select. Lane Asobo is a strong and athletic combo guard with a crisp pull up game and got loose in transition for 11 points. Marley Miller got it going in the second half as the thick wing finished with power and touch around the hoop for 13 points. Very intrigued with the long term upside of Jarik Mohammed as a 6'4” wing that was effective on the defensive end changing shots vertically and laterally with his ability to cover ground.

Van Gorp Posts Breakout Game in Midwest Bobcats Victory

Up next we saw Midwest Bobcats score a 52-47 win over [program_tooltip program_id='2078376' first='Illinois' last='Attack'] Ricken 16U. Bobcats were without their star, but Fremd big man [player_tooltip player_id='2951200' first='Timmy' last='Van Gorp'] made sure they were going to be just fine as the skilled 2028 post had the best game we have seen out of him in the spring. The 6'5” four man was impactful inside on the offensive glass with his second jump along with blocking shots. Then he got it going stretching the floor with his three point shooting notching 16 points (14 in first half). Rolling Meadows utility wing [player_tooltip player_id='2951744' first='Halil' last='Pekovic'] shot it well early then sought out his teammates as a connective passer. East Aurora 6'0” shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='2964301' first='Jamir' last='Malone'] caught our attention with a strong performance as the 2028 prospect had acceleration with the rock in his hands and an uber quick second jump on the offensive glass for a guard. Acrobatic conversions and flashed as a shooter for 8 points (all in second half). The first half belonged to Oswego East 5'11” point guard Ayden Mackey with a crafty scoring game off the bounce with the corner three working as well for 11 points.

Shot Making from 2029 Duo Pushes [program_tooltip program_id='2076459' first='Breakaway' last=''] Gold 15U Past [program_tooltip program_id='2075957' first='The' last='Work Foundation']

Fun contest here as [program_tooltip program_id='2076459' first='Breakaway' last=''] Gold won 58-49 over [program_tooltip program_id='2075957' first='The' last='Work Foundation']. Once again it was Glenbard East small forward [player_tooltip player_id='2835803' first='Carter' last='Pohlman'] who carried the offensive load for [program_tooltip program_id='2076459' first='Breakaway' last='']. Lefty with a strong frame is a plus three point shooter who gets it out of his hands super quick off the catch for 14 points (4 3s). [player_tooltip player_id='3577173' first='Keenan' last='Brown'] out of Kaneland was the other sharp shooter for [program_tooltip program_id='2076459' first='Breakaway' last=''] as he poured in three of his own netting 11 points while having some passing feel in the half court.

Thornwood 6'5” power forward Kingston Harris is going to be a name to track in 2029! [program_tooltip program_id='2075957' first='The' last='Work Foundation'] big man has projectability to continue to grow. He has a lanky frame with nice length. Got on the offensive glass for several put backs, ran the floor hard, and was a rim protector showing promise in a 9 point outing. Rich Township 6'2” shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='2842256' first='Larry' last='Booth'] has a rangy frame with a free flowing shot from three to track in 2029. Pair of point guards to watch in Reggie Johnson (Richards) and Leonard Thomas (Tinley Park) displayed competitiveness, defense, and the ability to get in the paint.

AJamHoops 16U Shows Out as Tennessee Squad Is Fun Group

Next was AJHoops 16U out of Tennessee looking very impressive in a win against [program_tooltip program_id='2075481' first='Fundamental' last='U'] Grind 78-55. The prospect that has been the talk of the event early on has been [player_tooltip player_id='2610387' first='Bryson' last='Morrissette']. The 6'4” combo guard can play on or off the ball. Has proven with some monster scoring outings he can do that at will, but in this game he was in pass first mode as he threw bullet passes on the money off live dribbles. Also is a good athlete with the ability to win on straight line drives and hit a trio of threes for 11 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2539103' first='Hudson' last='Estes'] had his moment in this game as the 6'6” skilled four man stretch the floor with his shooting consistently along with being active on the defensive end as he went for 17 points. Giovanni Tyler has a very bright future as a 6'7” four who presents the physical tools you look for with size, strength, and athleticism. Can handle it facing up crossing his man, going behind his back, and converting with a scoop shot. Shook defenders into pull ups in the mid-range and swatted several shots on defensively guarding inside and on the perimeter as he had 7 points.

Another Scroggins is primed to make noise at Lake Forest as Camden Scroggins has next! The 6'5” skilled forward is a wiry forward who can knock down threes from the corner and showed good athleticism running the floor along with stop and pop 15 footers as he had 13 points. DePaul Prep 6'3” shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='2358197' first='Ryan' last='Hoste'] will be part of the next generation for the Rams as the plus shooting lefty can knock down triples along with use his length on the defensive end as he dropped 15 points.

[program_tooltip program_id='2471005' first='Legacy' last='Ice Elite'] Scores Win vs [program_tooltip program_id='2076459' first='Breakaway' last=''] Gold in Awesome 17U Contest

Every now and then you get a great grassroots game that is played well on both ends and the players share the rock along with competing on the defensive end. That was exactly what we got as [program_tooltip program_id='2471005' first='Legacy' last='Ice Elite'] won 73-61 against [program_tooltip program_id='2076459' first='Breakaway' last=''] Gold 17U. [player_tooltip player_id='2414954' first='Chase' last='Devine'] from Bremen High School (IN) proved to be a plus three point shooter at 6'1” as the thick bodied sharp shooter hit one after another along with attacking close outs for 16 points. Slick handling Whiteland Community guard [player_tooltip player_id='2622069' first='Joban' last='Kalkat'] is a 6'3” guard that sliced and diced his way through the defense for sweeping layups, euro steps, and getting to the line with his quick first step. Lived in paint for 17 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2426066' first='Samarcus' last='Gipson'] is a 6'4” power forward from Elkhart that had his moments in the game as the four man sealed in the high/low, finished in the paint, and scored on post ups for 14 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2141046' first='Austin' last='Perry'] also had a nice game as the 6'3” Columbus North guard got after it defensively and passed it with a ton of flair as he had 7 points.

Lockport guard [player_tooltip player_id='2125671' first='Nojus' last='Venckus'] (15 points) and [player_tooltip player_id='2125668' first='Nedas' last='Venckus'] (6 points) played well off each other as always with their pin point passing off live dribbles along with shot making. Glenbard West 2027 guard [player_tooltip player_id='2125588' first='Bennett' last='Kammes'] has a ton of helium on the recruiting trail right now. The strong and skilled combo guard is among the premier shooters in the class and is primed to make a massive debut in our next 2027 rankings update! That lethal shooting was shown in an 11 point outing along with his ability to pass playing both on and off the ball. Fenwick point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2827004' first='Luke' last='Vongluekiat'] goes 6'1” and the lead guard brings toughness along with skill to the table. Shot fakes for blow by finishes along with clean looking threes netting 12 points. Stagg 2027 post [player_tooltip player_id='2389793' first='Dovydas' last='Zuperka'] had another strong outing as the mobile post stretched the floor with his shooting along with being presence scoring around the hoop on reverse layups and dunks. A lot of potential as a shot blocker. He went for 13 points.

Future Marist Star Shines in [program_tooltip program_id='2452456' first='Mac' last='Irvin Fire'] 14U Win

We saw a big game from Marist incoming freshman Robert Smith Jr. as the 2030 shooting guard led his team to a victory against [program_tooltip program_id='2075481' first='Fundamental' last='U'] Grind 15U 69-44. Smith Jr. came out aggressive from the tip hunting his shot. Skilled ball handler which allowed him to get wherever he wanted on the floor for scoop shots and straight line drives. Clean looking jumper from both two and three were on display as well going for 21 points. Simeon 2030 bouncy four man [player_tooltip player_id='2966991' first='Kamarion' last='Sandifer'] is oozing with potential which he showed early in the game with his quick second jump to the glass and making quick passes as a big man. Christian Dulinsky was another standout big man that converted out of the dunker spot, scored on rolls, and got on the offensive boards for buckets.

Legacy Wins Close One vs Man Up Fox Valley

We saw Legacy out of Michigan record at 17U victory against Man Up Fox Valley 61-55. They were led by Dean Lewis as the 6'5” combo forward out of Walled Lake Western snatched rebounds in traffic all game long. Pushed off the defensive glass and was uber active around the hoop on both ends. Hook shots, and-1s, put backs, and ran the floor hard. Can put it on the deck a little as well scoring 19 points in the victory. Braylon Byrd had a big second half as the big bodied wing has nimble footwork being able to create his own shot off the bounce with skilled handle going for 11 points all in the second stanza.

Man Up Fox Valley was paced by Jacobs 2027 post [player_tooltip player_id='2856365' first='Quinn' last='Gorges'] who has slimmed down and continues to produce each time we see him. Like the size and high level skill combination here as a small college gem! Mid-range jumpers, turnarounds, and a three off the catch. Also showed solid mobility defensively blocking multiple shots as he had 12 points. Huntley 6'0” point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2125639' first='Jalen' last='Howard'] got it rolling in the second half as the point guard with length shot it well from three along with mixing in acrobatic takes off the bounce for 11 points.

Central Illinois Stars Shine in Royalty Hoops vs Illinois Warriors 17U

Always fun to see a pair of programs from the same area, in this case central Illinois, match up as the players know each other and love to compete. That is what happened when we saw [program_tooltip program_id='2836391' first='Illinois' last='Warriors Elite'] knock off Royalty Hoops 63-43. Central A&M shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='2382372' first='Ace' last='Spinner'] is a plus shooter with a strong frame who just makes shots! [player_tooltip player_id='2382373' first='Danterion' last='Knight'] from MacArthur continues to make a name for himself with his speed and burst on straight line drives.

Mahomet Seymour 6'2” big bodied wing Brayden Graddey is a plus shooter from both three and mid-range with a feathery stroke. Cuts off the ball, can win on quick drives, and pushes it coast to coast off defensive stops. Monticello 6'1” shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='3592402' first='Ayden' last='Mccool'] continues to stack strong weekends as he has a clean looking shot along with being able to attack close outs with shot fakes.
