The Hoopsource Memorial Day Championships took place this past weekend and we had the opportunity to drop by and catch some of the action, where on Monday the [program_tooltip program_id='3645851' first='Oregon' last='Prospects'] captured the 17U D1 title and [program_tooltip program_id='3566315' first='PortlandBoyz' last='Elite'] captured the 16U D1 championship. Here's a quick look at some of the top players we watched.

Leading the way for [program_tooltip program_id='3566315' first='PortlandBoyz' last='Elite'] in the 16U Memorial Day Championships was [player_tooltip player_id='2910099' first='Kendall' last='Hopkins-McGlothen'], who would have been our pick as tournament MVP. In the final alone, he registered 19 points and 5 assists in playing just over half the game as he helped pace the team to an easy win and the title and his balance of superb three-level scoring and getting his teammates involved was indicative of how he played the entire weekend. The Benson freshman was recently placed at #1 in the most recent Class of 2029 rankings update.

Huge splash of a start to the Memorial Day Championships from Ochoa in G-Elite's very first game. The Mountainside senior guard had his jumper stuck on automatic draining threes, but was also effective creating offense the dribble for opportunities at the hoop too. 30+ points and a win. He could very well be the top scoring threat for the Mavs

On a team like Portland Boyz you sometimes have to wait your turn but when you get your chance you shine. That was the case with Powell on the first day at the Memorial Day Championships. He came alive in the second half with a big and-one play and then sank a 3 in the W. The Banks freshman has a great blend of length, athleticism, and shooting touch and made some great decisions in transition in the games that he played.

Playing with The PAC, Lawson led his squad to the 17U D1 title game. Playing both with and without the ball in his hands, he was equally effective with his scoring touch, dropping in dagger threes and getting hard to the basket for buckets. There were times when the team was completely on his back, especially when he was practically unguardable. Lawson announced after the tournament that he's signed with Chemeketa.

Just one game on the first day of the Memorial Day Championships but it was a memorable one for Novy-Hildesley. The Lincoln senior headed to MIT was literally dunking all over the place in a huge win, using his unmatched strength and athleticism to dominate inside and on the break for PSB.

Whether he was starting or coming off the bench, Lee made an impact with the [program_tooltip program_id='3566315' first='PortlandBoyz' last='Elite']. The Jefferson freshman guard was their 3-and-D specialist, hitting open jumpers while tackling the other team's top perimeter threat on defense. A solid finisher in transition, he particuarly played well in the finals as [program_tooltip program_id='3566315' first='PortlandBoyz' last='Elite'] captured the 16U D1 title.
