Five prospects that are either on the fringes of receiving their first Division I offer, or should be (with one who just got his first).

A shooting guard with some positional versatility on both ends of the floor thanks to this 6-foot-6 frame, [player_tooltip player_id='2204081' first='Charlie' last='King'] is a sniper of a shooter. Fresh off the Memphis session on the EYCL Nike circuit, the 2027 wing averaged 17 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game while shooting 42% from three. Possessing one of the prettier looking jump shots in the state, King's release is quick and silky smooth -- frankly, it feels like it's going in almost every time he launches the rock.

A three-level scorer that impacts the game on the glass and makes others better? Why not take a shot on a kid with upside, size and that has helped transform a program from being a doormat in the Des Moines metro to being one of the top teams in the state? It's a bit of a shock the new staffs at Drake and UNI aren't all over King, let alone other regional Division I programs like Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois, North Dakota and the like.

Part of the [program_tooltip program_id='2075269' first='All' last='Iowa Attack'] squad on the EYCL circuit, [player_tooltip player_id='2594655' first='Pete' last='Craig'] of Waukee is a similar prospect to King in terms of physical size, and somewhat in skillset. He's also a year younger.

Craig is more of a slashing wing that can impose his will a bit more consistently around the rim, as opposed to being more of a shooter. More athletic and bouncy, Craig uses his burst and athleticism to throw down dunks and defend opposing team's guards and wings. Either way, the soon-to-be junior took a big step forward from his freshman to sophomore years, averaging 11 points and 7.9 rebounds on the Warriors' state-qualifying team. Already garnering some attention from the staff in Iowa City, Craig has high-major upside if his production continues to ramp up and his three-point percentage can improve.

One of these is not like the other. Set to be an easy choice to make the cut for a prospect that deserves more Division I attention, Steinbeck just received his first offer on Friday from Nebraska. While he's got a while till he's in position to make a decision, Steinbeck has got himself into an excellent starting position with the Cornhuskers.

They hybrid type of player that can do a barrage of different things on the court -- attack the rim off the dribble, shoot from the outside, create off the dribble, defend multiple positions, etc. -- Steinbeck is an archetype of hooper that has done really well at the next level as of late. His stats back up what he was able to do for Lincoln this winter, too. In total he put up 15.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 49.3% from the field, 44.1% from three and 87.7% from the free throw line. While the Huskers were the first ones in on Steinbeck, it's easy to see them not being the last.

He's still got things to work on to round out his game, but Steinbeck possesses the frame and tools that can serve as a launching pad to continue to hone his skillset.

In need of a microwave scorer, anyone? A hesitation from Division I schools makes some sense regarding [player_tooltip player_id='2118611' first='Jerimiah' last='Washpun'] because of his 5-foot-11 size. For programs that simply need someone to come in and put the ball in the basket, it doesn't much sense at all.

A hooper that can put up 30 points on any given night for Iowa City Liberty, Washpun was a volume scorer this winter, and he did so in a wildly efficient manner. Putting up over 300 shots for the Lightning (while missing five games due to injury), Washpun shot 50.3% from the field and 45.4% from three.

Though he's is in a different situation from King, as Washpun is a score-first point guard that doesn't have the same size as his 2027 counterpart, Washpun can fill it up, and he can do so in a hurry. This is a prospect that programs shouldn't overthink. The No. 1 PG in the state is a recruit that a coach should bring in and figure it all out after the fact, because the point of the game is to score -- and Washpun can flat-out score.

One of the best ball-handlers in the state, if not the best, Vasuan Wilmington has the ball on a string. He may be one of the more complete guards Iowa has to offer, too. Finishing this last season as North Scott's second-leading scorer behind [player_tooltip player_id='2309944' first='Josiah' last='Harrington'], Wilmington put up 16.2 points, four rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.7 steals, while shooting 45.5% from the field, 39.8% from three and 73.1% from the stripe.

Pairing near-elite quickness with a tight handle and the ability to step out and shoot it, Wilmington is the whole package. If a team is looking for a guard that can score, as well as make his teammates better, they've got their man. His athleticism and quickness also lend itself to improvement on the defensive side of the floor, and Wilmington has plenty to work with in terms of continuing to develop his offensive skillset.

Five prospects that are either on the fringes of receiving their first Division I offer, or should be (with one who just got his first).
