Fresh off picking up a Nebraska offer, Steinbeck will be one of the hot commodities for college coaches over the weekend. He has great positional wing at 6-7 and is an elite shooting threat who buried over 44% of his 3-point attempts as a sophomore at CBAL. His size and length allow him to defend one through five at this level, and he should be able to defend multiple positions at the next level as well.

One of these is not like the other. Set to be an easy choice to make the cut for a prospect that deserves more Division I attention, Steinbeck just received his first offer on Friday from Nebraska. While he’s got a while till he’s in position to make a decision, Steinbeck has got himself into an excellent starting position with the Cornhuskers.
They hybrid type of player that can do a barrage of different things on the court — attack the rim off the dribble, shoot from the outside, create off the dribble, defend multiple positions, etc. — Steinbeck is an archetype of hooper that has done really well at the next level as of late. His stats back up what he was able to do for Lincoln this winter, too. In total he put up 15.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 49.3% from the field, 44.1% from three and 87.7% from the free throw line. While the Huskers were the first ones in on Steinbeck, it’s easy to see them not being the last.
He’s still got things to work on to round out his game, but Steinbeck possesses the frame and tools that can serve as a launching pad to continue to hone his skillset.

Steinbeck is a transfer from Blair (Nebraska), coming across the river to play his sophomore year at CBAL. A talented wing with great size and length, he’s a high-level shotmaker who can bury shots routinely off both the dribble and the catch. With his size, he can shoot over defenders, and he’s an adept ball-handler and shot creator off the dribble. He should step into a big-time role immediately for the Lynx as a sophomore.

Steinbeck played his freshman year at Blair (NE) before transferring across the river to play his sophomore year at Council Bluffs Lincoln. He has good size and length on the wing, is a knockdown shooter off the catch, and has the size and athleticism to be a versatile defender. He’ll make an immediate impact with the Lynx.

is a raw talent that feels like could put everything together in the near future.
He didn’t have the best shooting weekend, but he is a clear shooter. His form looks smooth, and he shoots it with confidence whether his shot was falling or not.
Kalan can also get to the rim and beat defenders of the dribble. He is a good finisher around the rim who has good touch in that area.
Steinbeck is not just a good athlete, but he has a good feel for the game overall. He showed potential to one day become an effective passer to go along with his scoring.
He scored nine points on two made threes while recording one rebound, assists and block for ETG.

Kalan dominated in the game I caught on Sunday, as the freshman showcased his super versatile game. The 6’5” wing could handle the ball in space, being able to push the tempo and create transition opportunities. He is a knockdown shooter from beyond the arc, pulling up off the dribble with confidence. He could use his handle and length to work himself inside for tough finishes as well. Steinbeck displayed a lot of potential and will be a prospect to watch in Nebraska’s 2028 class.
