Slaughter was really good as a sophomore for the Lynx, averaging 10.8 points and 1.8 assists per game on 45-44-60 shooting spilts, and he followed that up with a strong spring and summer with Southwest Iowa Select. He’s a quick, long guard who uses his size to his advantage, seeing over his defender or knocking down shots over them. He shoots it really well off both the dribble and the catch and is also a really good on-ball defender with great lateral movement.

He plays with pace, knocks down shots off the dribble and the catch, and can create quality looks for his teammates. He’s a quick on-ball defender with great hands and quick feet, and he looks primed to have a huge junior year.

Slaughter’s ball-handling, vision, and speed make him a difficult guard to contain for opposing players. He has a really good feel for the game, knowing when he needs to change speeds, and he changes directions without losing speed well, keeping the defender off balance. He shoots it well off the dribble, especially from the mid-range, and his quick hands and feet allow him to stay in front of opposing ball-handlers and make them work hard.

I really like watching Slaughter play. He’s a high IQ guard who can do a little bit of everything, impacting the game on the offensive end whether he has the ball in his hands or not. He’s a good ball-handler with great vision, and he likes to put pressure on opposing teams with his ability to put pressure on the rim. He’s really good in ball screen actions, turning the corner and getting to the rim, or finding the roll/pop man. He can knock down shots off the catch and moves without the ball in his hands well. However, where he impressed the most may have been with his work as an on-ball defender throughout the afternoon, moving his feet well side-to-side and making his opponent work hard just to get the offense initiated, which is not common in this type of setting. He competed hard on both ends throughout the day.
