Expert Analysis
Tony Roe | Prep Hoops Scout
DeJager will pair with Slaughter to give the Lynx a pair of dynamic playmakers in the backcourt. He’s a quick guard who puts constant pressure on opposing players on both ends of the floor with his speed. He handles it well, sees the floor, and has quick hands and feet as an on-ball defender. He averaged 5.5 points and 1.7 assists per game as a sophomore and will be an even bigger factor for CBAL as a junior.

The other half of CBAL’s talented 2027 backcourt, DeJager is a nice complement to Slaughter with his ability to play with or without the ball in his hands. He can knock down shots off the catch or create plays off the dribble. He uses his length and quickness to his advantage on the defensive end, getting into passing lanes and making life difficult for opposing ball-handlers.

A high IQ, steady lead guard, DeJager can do a little bit of everything on the offensive end. He’s at his best when he’s playing as a facilitator, putting the ball on the floor and getting into the teeth of the defense, where he’s a threat to either get all the way to the rim, pull up and knock down a 12-15 foot jumper, or find an open cutting teammate or finding someone spotting up on the opposite wing. While he’s at his best when he’s operating with the ball in his hands, he’s also a capable off-ball guard who moves and shoots it well off the catch.
