Cherokee County Underclassmen Poised to Break Out

A number of Cherokee County underclassmen are emerging as legitimate college prospects and have built on strong high school season with impressive performances this spring. Here is a look at five prospect to watch this offseason.    The area's top prospect, Maurice is a high scoring, strong, and physical ball handling guard who consistently puts pressure on opposing defenses. Extremely difficult to keep out of the paint, he thrives attacking downhill and finishing through contact while also creating offense for himself off the bounce. Maurice is a capable perimeter shot maker who continues to expand his offensive versatility, and his combination of toughness, strength, and scoring ability makes him one of the more productive backcourt prospects in the state. He is playing this spring with [program_tooltip program_id='2076604' first='Atlanta' last='Xpress'] on the UAA circuit.     The highly skilled sophomore averaged 19 points per game this season for Sequoyah while establishing himself as one of the area's top young backcourt prospects. Capable of playing either guard spot, he combines a high basketball IQ with good pace, feel, and decision making. A reliable shot maker from the perimeter, he can score both on and off the ball while also using his above-average quickness to create offense off the dribble. In addition to his scoring ability, he sees the floor well and consistently finds open teammates, making him a well rounded offensive playmaker.     Another talented guard prospect, Luster helped lead Pro One to a 4-0 record at UAA Session I while averaging nearly 10 points and 4 assists per game. The junior is a skilled, sharp shooting left handed guard with a high basketball IQ. He has good strength for the position, solid foot speed, and the ability to create offense off the bounce in addition to his perimeter shot making. Luster's toughness, work ethic, and overall skill set continue to make him an intriguing backcourt prospect.     The junior forward averaged nearly a double-double for the Wolverines this season while continuing to establish himself as a productive and active frontcourt presence. Schulze plays with a high motor and consistently impacts the game with his energy level, toughness, and activity around the basket. He runs the floor well, finishes above the rim in transition and around the paint, and has shown developing touch and skill in the midrange. A relentless rebounder, Schulze competes hard on the glass at both ends of the floor and brings physicality and effort every possession. He is play with the Atlanta All-Stars on the UA Rise circuit.     Flint is a skilled guard who averaged over 13 points per game this season and earned All-Region honors for River Ridge. He is a reliable shot maker with the ability to score from multiple levels while also serving as a steady ball handler and decision maker in the backcourt. Flint has good quickness, creates offense effectively off the dribble, and consistently competes on both ends of the floor. His combination of skill, toughness, and feel for the game makes him a prospect for college coaches to evaluate.
