Logan Wavrin is a handful to deal with at a versatile 6'7. When I first saw him warming up I thought there could be potential and he solidified that almost right away from the opening tip-off. He put together a really complete, well rounded showing in his early morning battle on Saturday showing off all facets of his game. In the end he buried weaker opponents on the blocks, he rebounded intensely on both ends - while even grabbing the defensive board and taking it coast-to-coast for a thunderous finish multiple times, he made crafty passes to open teammates in transition, and he showed off that he can defend the Forward spot at a higher rate than most defensively. The MVP of the morning at Edina High School goes to Wavrin with this outing.

DBN is one of those types that likes to create his own rhythm and then disrupt it with some shifty moves while trying to get down hill against his defender. We saw this several times on Saturday morning and it helped his team stick in it until the very end. When they needed a go-to bucket, it was either DBN or #1 for their group that took over. It was noteworthy as they were staying hungry and aggressive on the offensive side of the ball, especially in transition against the press. Before the final buzzer sounded, DBN suffered a lower leg injury when an opponent when to dive for a loose ball on the floor. It was completely un-intentional but it did impact the outcome of the contest from a spectators point of view. I'm not sure if he will play the rest of the weekend but either way, it doesn't change the fact that he did his thing to kick off this weekend.

The "purest" player I saw during the morning session was Caleb Gillo of WOTN 16U. Gillo had to have 6 or 7 three pointer makes that were so pure that the net didn't even move. This is a prospect that has one of the quickest triggers I've seen in a long time while shooting the rock. He does not need much time or space to let that thing go and that led to SEVERAL buckets over defenders in this specific contest. In the end, WOTN came out victorious and a big reason for that is because of the production of Gillo on the offensive side of the ball.

We could see Deon Billinger become a next-level PG throughout these next couple of seasons if he continues to do what he did today on the court. His team might of fallen short in the end but Billinger took over the last 10 minutes of play. He was like a flash of lightning getting to the bucket off the bounce from the outside. It was unstoppable and when help-side decided to come over to assist, he would just float the ball over their extended hand for a tough finish. This happened time and time again until the very end. His ability to get to the basket and finish in every way plausible stood out to everyone watching. No one could contain it, even when multiple defenders tried.

There is a lot of upside to the game style that Abdiwak Olana competes with. He has size as a guard at 6'3, he is used to playing physical no matter where he is on the floor, and he can lead by example as a team's best overall prospect - just like he did earlier today in their victory. My only note for him to get better is become more and more efficient as he gets older. He checks off a lot of boxes that college recruiters are going to have, he just needs to keep fine tuning everything but even with that being said, he was hands-down when of the best overall hoopers we saw this morning.
