The 2029 rankings dropped on Wednesday and there was plenty of movement here as this was the group that we did not know a ton about heading into the season but spent some time not he past couple of weeks. There are players who were impactful on the varsity scene this past year and some that made moves on the Freshman and JV team. But with what we've seen from them to start out grassroots season, we've gotten more time watching. Here are 5 players in the rankings that we have high expectations for this upcoming season.

Dash has really looked as if he's taken the weight room serious since the end of the year and it all comes out for his Mountain Stars team when he's using that as the defensive enforcer. He is a in your face defendeer who makes you work and that turns into easy scoring opportunities for him on the other end of the floor. Spann is a two-way stand out for sure as he gets it going offensively as well. He can shoot he 3-ball, he's confident on the move and he finishes well around the basket. Spann got minutes as a freshman on a team who doesn't necessarily play freshman but his impact is undeniable. He's a player who will be around and making some noise for the next few seasons and we've seen him in multiple settings. Solid prospect.

Weber had one of the most underrated jobs in the state as a freshman. He made one of the best teams in the state as a freshman, he had to make already very good players better while soaking up as much as he could. The player that we just saw a week ago is such a different player from the few times we saw him on varsity but he made the most out of those moments. Ty is a spark off of the bench but he's a constant. You knew what you were getting with him, he was poised and showed composure and the game was not too sped up with him. Weber is a pass-first guard who sees the floor well, makes the right plays and can score when needed. In the summer we've gotten to see his game expand even more. He's a name to know and one that I feel will continue to get bigger and bigger. He's a mainstay in these rankings and I am expecting a huge year for him.

Jace is another player with a very mature game and things are seeming to slow down for him on the floor. He's one of the better passers in the class but make no mistake about it, he also can score. He's an aggressive downhill guard who can step out and shoot the 3-ball, he attacks mismatches and fills it up.Jace is best with eh ball in his hands and really stands out when he either uses or rejects the screen as he's a pick & roll maestro. He can dissect a defense with his activity and we're really seeing him be able to adapt to the older age group and still be effective. He makes a jump in the rankings this go round with his play right now and will certainly be a much improved player by summers end. He's an intriguing prospect for me.

Fedderson is here to stay and I am sure that the more that I watch him, the more he'll continue to rise. I just haven't seen him enough to make him higher but I believe he will finish up in the rankings as a Top-10 player and could get there in no time. The ceiling is so high with him and in the tournament I got to see of him he was a nightmare matchup for the opposing team. At the 15U level, he's just a bit too much. He not only alters shots but he blocks everything that comes his way, he moves well and finishes above the rim. He was dunking through traffic, he has good hand-eye coordination and made catches that he wasn't supposed to and finished. His size is overwhelming but he also seems to have the skill to go along with it. He makes his rankings debut and will be an instant riser I am sure.

[player_tooltip player_id='2831982' first='Chris' last='Thatch Jr.']

Thatch Jr. has the makings to be one of the most versatile players in the class and his size and skill makes him one of the most intriguing prospects in this class. He's a 2029 that I bet has one of the biggest varsity jumps this year and he will have many times that he swings a game. He's active and a two-way menace. He's lethal in the open court and he can put the ball in the basket. Thatch Jr. reads the floor well and you get him the ball and get out of the way or he plays within the flow to keep defenses honest. I am extremely high on him and he makes a jump onto the rankings after spending time on the watch list.
