This rankings update is a bit overdue, and I apologize for the delay in getting them out. My wife gave birth to our beautiful son on March 19 and life has been a bit of a whirlwind ever since. That said, here are some of the biggest stock risers inside the top 50 of the latest 2027 rankings update.

SG [player_tooltip player_id='2754678' first='Michael' last='Gordon'] (Bettendorf)
The move: 8 to 5

Gordon's steady climb up the rankings continues, elevating a few spots into the top five in the class. Arguably the best isolation scoring threat in the class, he's a gifted ball-handler, shot creator, and shot maker who can score in a variety of ways. He has great footwork, a smooth stroke off the dribble, getting the ball into his shooting pocket quickly, and he's a crafty finisher around the rim. He averaged 19.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.6 steals on 43-35-76 shooting splits in his junior year.

PF [player_tooltip player_id='2443978' first='Alfred' last='Kolee'] (Dowling Catholic)
The move: 46 to 6

Kolee makes a massive jump into the top 10 following an impressive junior year averaging 10.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks for one of the state's best teams. He's an intriguing blend of size, length, athleticism, and raw talent that should have college coaches salivating. His offensive game is still a work in progress, but he's a high-level, versatile defender who can switch onto smaller ball-handlers and hold his own as well as protect the rim at a high level.

PG [player_tooltip player_id='2419846' first='Nicare' last='Cavil'] (Johnston)
The move: 20 to 10

A quick, fearless guard who really rose to the occasion throughout postseason play, Cavil is outstanding in the mid-range, getting to his spots off the dribble seemingly at will. In addition to his ability to score, he's a gifted playmaker who sees the floor well and is also one of the state's elite on-ball defenders. He led the Dragons in scoring (16.1) and steals (2.0) as a junior.

SG [player_tooltip player_id='2419755' first='Tillman' last='Papcun'] (Norwalk)
The move: 21 to 12

Papcun is another player who continues to rise up the rankings, inching closer and closer to a top-10 spot. The 6-2 guard has great footwork, plays with pace, and isn't afraid of contact around the rim. He can score from all three levels, operate with or without the ball in his hands, and as the season progressed, he commanded more and more defensive attention, yet his efficiency numbers never wavered, and his playmaking only got better. He averaged 20.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game on 51-42-86 shooting splits for the Warriors.

SF [player_tooltip player_id='2116043' first='Joshua' last='Jenkins'] (Johnston)
The move: 45 to 13

Another big stock riser from Johnston, Jenkins is quickly making his way back up the rankings after getting big-time varsity run in his junior year. He has a blend of size, length, and shooting that should make him a coveted prospect for Division II programs, and if he continues to improve as a ball-handler and shot creator, he could be a sleeper mid-major prospect with a big summer. At 6-5/6-6, he has tremendous length and shot 43% from the 3-point line as a junior. He was outstanding in Johnston's run to a runner-up finish in Class 4A.

PG [player_tooltip player_id='2530471' first='Tate' last='McCollum'] (Solon)
The move: 35 to 19

McCollum is a bit more slight of frame than his older brother Peyton, but his quick-twitch and ability to get his shot off with limited space makes him a dynamic offensive weapon. He led the Spartans to the 3A state tournament, averaging 18.9 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.9 steals per game, and his 101 made 3-pointers ranked second in the state among all classes. When you watch him play, and watch his footwork, particularly on his initial catch on the perimeter, it's clear that he has spent a significant amount of time watching and working out with Bennett Stirtz.

SF [player_tooltip player_id='2419850' first='David' last='William'] (Storm Lake)
The move: 72 to 36

William has firmly established himself as one of the state's elite on-ball defenders. He was sensational at the state tournament on the defensive end, making life hell for McCollum in their quarterfinal matchup. He's a great, long athlete who moves his feet well and uses his length effectively. Colleges can always use long, athletic defenders, and William is just that.

SF [player_tooltip player_id='2419751' first='Darren' last='Grandon'] (Johnston)
The move: 57 to 40

Grandon didn't put up big numbers in his junior year at Johnston - 3.8 points, 3.4 rebounds - but he started 22 of 26 games for the 4A runner-up Dragons because of his willingness to do all the little things and provide some real versatility on the defensive end. He's a bouncy, long 6-5 combo forward who can defend one through five at this level.

SG [player_tooltip player_id='2420795' first='Timothy' last='Yanga'] (Storm Lake)
The move: 73 to 45

While Jaidyn Coon was the headliner for Storm Lake, it was their junior class that really stepped up to help turn the Tornadoes into a true contender in Class 3A this past winter. Yanga, a 6-4 wing, was one of those breakout players. He's a tremendous athlete who uses his length and speed to his advantage on the defensive end of the floor, getting into passing lanes, contesting shots, and pounding the offensive glass. He averaged 8.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.4 steals on 51% shooting as a junior.
