Session 1 Notes: Players Who Impressed at 3SSB V:1

3SSB Circuit Session 1 delivered everything you'd want from a top grassroots event. The weekend was loaded with high-level competition, big-time performances, and plenty of talent across the board. With the lights bright and the stakes high, several prospects stepped up and separated themselves from the pack. Over the next couple of articles, I'll be highlighting the standouts who made the most noise and backed it up on the floor.      Explosive in transition, he consistently put pressure on the rim and was tough to contain in the open floor, attacking gaps and finishing with authority. In the halfcourt, his burst and quick first step created separation off the dribble, where he showed the ability to play through contact and finish with creativity using either hand. He played with a relentless motor, applying constant pressure on the defense throughout possessions. He also connected on timely threes — including off-the-dribble looks — keeping the defense honest and opening up driving lanes.     Operated with a strong feel as a creator, consistently pushing the pace in transition and applying pressure by getting downhill with intent. What stood out most was his handle — tight, controlled, and confident — allowing him to navigate traffic, shift defenders, and create advantages off the dribble. He played with purpose, collapsing the defense and opening opportunities for others. On the glass, he contributed to finishing possessions, and offensively he showed a smooth stroke from three with good lift and range. His ability to handle, create, and make plays gave him a well-rounded and impactful presence.     Controlled guard who played with pace and tempo, never sped up while consistently dictating the game. Disruptive point-of-attack defender—applied steady pressure, made opposing guards uncomfortable, and stayed engaged off the ball with purposeful movement. Offensively, showed shot creation off the bounce, confidently getting to side-step threes. Highly effective in pick-and-roll—used his burst to turn the corner, read coverage, and make quick, decisive reads to create for others.     Made his presence felt on the glass on both ends, consistently crashing the boards and competing for every rebound. Around the paint, nothing came easy — he did a strong job protecting the rim, blocking and altering shots with his timing and activity. He also ran the floor well, adding value in transition with his effort and mobility.     Took great care of the ball, consistently keeping defenders on his hip to create advantages on drive-and-kick situations and downhill attacks. He looked comfortable in tight, crowded spaces — navigating traffic with poise and control even when things appeared sped up. Created well off the dribble, showing the ability to rise up, stop on a dime, and knock down mid-range pull-ups. Showed a well-rounded scoring ability, able to impact the game from multiple spots on the floor.     Put together multiple double-doubles this past weekend, fueled by his impact on the glass. Scored it at all three levels without forcing the action, consistently getting to his spots and delivering timely buckets within the flow of the game. Created well off the dribble with strong control and feel, and was especially effective in the mid-range where he looked comfortable rising and converting. Finished through contact at the rim and consistently made his presence felt rebounding on both ends.     Used his ability to create off the dribble to consistently generate clean looks, playing with control and confidence. Shot the ball well from three, showing deep range and the ability to stretch the floor. Did a strong job both on and off the ball orchestrating the offense, keeping things flowing and making the right reads. Also showed his versatility by mixing it up inside, using post touches to score and keep defenders honest. Put together a highly productive weekend, scoring at a high level with multiple 20+ point performances.     A lanky combo guard who consistently created off the dribble, using screens effectively to open up mid-range looks and downhill opportunities. Showed a crafty handle with the ability to create space, and moved well without the ball to stay involved in the offense. Shot the three with confidence and displayed great lift on his mid-range jumper. His open-court vision stood out, making plays for others in transition. He finished well through contact, got to the free throw line at a high rate, and was one of the more creative scorers on display this past weekend. He also finished as the top scorer for Session One.     Showed a strong feel for the game with a confident handle, allowing him to stay composed and make plays. Shot it well from three off the catch, providing consistent floor spacing. He also got downhill with purpose and finished at the rim with touch and control.     Played with the ball on a string, showing strong control and change of speeds to create advantages and get where he wanted. Displayed good vision, making the right reads and finding teammates when the defense collapsed. Consistently got downhill and finished at the rim with touch, including through contact. Did a good job orchestrating the offense, keeping things organized, while also contributing on the glass.     Rebounded the ball well and consistently impacted the glass. Showed the ability to push the ball up the floor and make the right reads, operating as a smart, reliable decision-maker. Shot it well from three off the catch with good range and no hesitation, keeping the defense honest. Also showed his value as a passer and made his presence felt defensively with his ability to protect the rim.     A true speedster who plays with great pace and stays in constant attack mode, he's a blur with the ball in his hands. He excels in the open floor, making quality passes that lead to easy baskets and consistently hitting teammates in stride. Around the rim, he shows strong touch on high finishes and embraces contact, converting through traffic with confidence.
