really changed the game with the way he carried the scoring load while delivering timely shot-making within the flow of the offense. He proved to be an extremely locked-in performer, knocking down jumpers with poise and a calm demeanor while consistently displaying unshakable composure and confidence. As a shot creator, Boyd was always in control of what happened next, forcing defenders to react to his rhythm while allowing him to navigate the floor freely, get into the paint on his own terms, and consistently create clean pull-ups from three-point range, the mid-range, instinctive finishes at the rim, and quick decision-making kick-out passes to teammates.

proved to be one of the most efficient shot makers you’ll find in the state, regardless of class. Poised and under control at all times, no amount of defensive pressure got him out of character. Boyd consistently beat aggressive defenders with patience, using reverse pivots, rip-throughs, and jab steps to set up explosive first-step attacks. Every dribble had a purpose, helping him get to his spots where he was a mid-range assassin while also displaying a polished finishing package around the rim. His effort and speed in the open floor allowed him to beat defenders down the court, capitalize on leak-outs, and position himself for transition finishes, drop-offs, or kick-back passes.

Marcus Boyd out of the 3rd Coast Bucks 16U was a natural scorer that made it look easy throughout the South Finals weekend. With the ball in his hands, he had a burst of speed and athleticism that was hard to stop in 1 on 1 situations for opposing defenders guarding him. I was really impressed on how he was able to react to counters as he regularly played off his pivot to shoot fadeaway jumpers from multiple spots on the floor. Alot of the times within the office of flow, it seems like he knows what he’s about to do with his next move and does a good job of executing. When going downhill he likes to use his shoulders to create space between him and his defenders. Marcus was my best prospect in the 16U division throughout the weekend.

was arguably the best the player in the entire event regardless of division. During the championship game he clearly showed how and why! During the 1st half he faced double teams, traps, and a defensive scheme that was deliberately set in place by the Team Phoenix coaching staff and players. Boyd calmly continued to make the right play and defer to open teammates. As his team trailed at halftime, Boyd flipped the switch and went into takeover mode as he destroyed whatever defender or scheme was in front of him. From tough take and finishes at the rim to nailing perimeter shots Boyd simply was that “DUDE”. What most impresses me about his game is that he is even keel throughout and doesn’t get in his feelings when possessions don’t go his way. A truly gifted hooper that will definitely be one of the coveted college prospects as he continues to build upon his trajectory.

Played with the ball on a string, showing strong control and change of speeds to create advantages and get where he wanted. Displayed good vision, making the right reads and finding teammates when the defense collapsed. Consistently got downhill and finished at the rim with touch, including through contact. Did a good job orchestrating the offense, keeping things organized, while also contributing on the glass.

got hot and scored in bunches in a comeback win against Iowa United, showing the ability to take over the scoring load when needed. Boyd wasted no time getting to his spots and finding his opportunities within the flow of the offense, scoring with one-dribble pull-ups as he beat closeouts. Boyd was very aggressive off the catch with a great first step for instant paint touches, consistently putting pressure on the defense. His athleticism proved to be an elite combination of quickness and verticality as he displayed the ability to build up steam on the fastbreak and flush it over his opponent with ease. Around the basket Boyd displayed craftiness against shot blockers with reverse layups, finishing with touch and creativity.

Boyd is a strong-framed scoring playmaker who consistently prioritizes winning plays. He attacks downhill with force, finishing through contact and drawing help rotations. His ability to create for others off paint touches makes him valuable in spread alignments. On the defensive end, he competes at the point of attack and rebounds well for his position. His physicality and two-way mindset give him early translatable traits.

continues to score at a high level without dominating the ball, instead thriving off timing, feel for the game, and opportunistic aggression. Against Colleyville Covenant, Boyd made the game look effortless, dropping 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting, including 5-of-8 from three, while also contributing five rebounds, five assists, three steals, and a block.
