On Saturday April 12th I attended the Nothing but Net Spring Showcase at Sunnyslope HS hosted by Dinos Trigonis. It was a unique event with club and prep teams playing each other making it a rare live period for college coaches to come view the talent.

I spent all day watching the teams on the main court plus one half in the auxiliary gym. These are not prospect rankings. Just how did they do for the 1-2 games I viewed them.

2nd Team

[player_tooltip player_id='2875092' first='Cheikh' last='Biteye'] Bella Vista Prep CIA Grind

A long wing forward is a very fluid athlete. He seems to fly around the court and on the break and he is a great on-ball and help side defender. He is a very good rebounder and seems to collect steals in bunches. He had a couple top end blocks off the glass and will dunk it on the break.

[player_tooltip player_id='2171184' first='Gage' last='Bartlett'] Bella Vista Prep CIA Grind (Pictured)

A scoring lead guard with a high feel for the game. He is tough and super crafty to get to his spots. He will score with hesitation drives and loves getting downhill towards the basket. He is one of those who gets hot quickly from mid to three three point line.

[player_tooltip player_id='2412268' first='Maurice' last='Carter II'] Willow Canyon (Compton Magic 16)

A quick on quick scoring point guard is a way better passer than he gets credited with but a natural scorer. He will fill it up with mid-range pull-ups, threes off the catch, blow by as he is super elusive to the basket with advanced body control. He is also a quick on ball defender.

[player_tooltip player_id='994689' first='Noah' last='George'] Bella Vista Prep

A super tough defensive guard had a great showing. He had multiple steals using his next level strength and lateral quickness which led to high flying dunks off of two-feet. He rebounds well and will score with threes, pull-ups and tough shots in the lane.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140825' first='Jimmie' last='Haywood III'] AZ Compass Prep (Arizona Unity 17 EYBL)

A bigger combo guard with an all-around game. He has some athleticism combined with skill. He will drive it to the basket with a burst of speed, hit the three off the catch one by one and he is a very good passer with his left or right hand. He is also quick on the ball defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='2466738' first='Dewey' last='Henry'] Ironwood ([program_tooltip program_id='2867224' first='Phoenix' last='United'] 16)

A scoring point guard keeps stacking up good weekends one after another. He will make some plays with advanced court vision and score it. He can shoot it off the catch or pull from the three point line, drive the lane and score it high off the glass with a high degree of difficulty and is always in attack mode.

[player_tooltip player_id='1956218' first='Marcus' last='Isaac'] Mountain Pointe (Compton Magic 16)

A long, tall and fluid power forward is a tough two-way player. He will score it with alley-oop dunks, mid-range jumpers, quick rip thrus, offensive rebound put back dunks, tip-ins with either hand and run the floor better than most. He is also a good passer, as his feel is improving.

[player_tooltip player_id='2947346' first='Giovanni' last='Nielsen'] Deer Valley ([program_tooltip program_id='2867224' first='Phoenix' last='United'] 15)

A versatile wing or bigger off guard has a good feel to make a play and potentially end up a point forward type. He will score with and-1's in the lane, dribble drive down the lane and finish with half hook shots and offensive rebound put backs. He brings a two-way game with energy and skill.

[player_tooltip player_id='2552733' first='Donovan' last='Palmer'] Chandler (Compton Magic 16)

A highly skilled post player is becoming a tougher cover as he ages. He will score with impressive dunks, as he is becoming a little more athletic, tough contested layups, offensive rebound put backs, long euro steps and floaters. He will gobble up rebounds and blocks shots off the glass.
