Bash In The Desert: 16U Guards Who Caught Fire

This group of guards made a big impact on the offensive end at the Prep Hoops Bash in the Desert. Each of them showed the ability to score it at a high level and capitalize on their opportunities.    I caught one of [player_tooltip player_id='2457855' first='Lucas' last='Alvarado']'s games last year at the Prep Hoops Bash in the Desert, and he's added quite a bit to his repertoire since then. He is a confident ball handler who pushes the pace up the court. From there, he can utilize his deceptive handle to create his own shot. He was draining both mid-range jumpers and threes. I also noticed him looking for teammates when he had the defense's attention. Overall, I was a fan of how he played, and he looks like a guard who's trending in the right direction.     [player_tooltip player_id='2506438' first='Isaac' last='Teasley'] is the type of guard that makes defenses pay if they give him too much room to let it go. He sees the floor well and gets open for catch-and-shoot opportunities regularly. He also notably has a quick trigger, and his textbook form translates to him connecting at a high clip. Considering his scoring prowess and instincts, I expect he'll continue to fill it up on offense for the Tucson Spartans.     Legacy floor general [player_tooltip player_id='2506549' first='Sebastian' last='Ondoua'] was turning some heads playing up in the 16U Division. He played with a calm demeanor, and his patience and court vision allow him to see the floor extremely well. He also knows when to hit the gas pedal to leave defenders in the dust, and he was dropping in layups all weekend long. Ondoua has elite athleticism as well, throwing down at least one dunk (despite standing at around 5'9). On the other end of the court, he causes turnovers often thanks to his active hands and lateral quickness.     [player_tooltip player_id='2560318' first='Jack' last='Bauer'] has a number of tools that help him get to his spots. He has long strides, and it doesn't take many dribbles for him to get to the rim when driving. He also pours in triples and is good for a couple a game. In addition to his stellar play on offense, he covers ground well on defense, and his wingspan allows him to get in passing lanes. Expect him to be a prospect who can continue to make waves with AZ Storm this summer.     [player_tooltip player_id='2552782' first='Jaiden' last='Hong'] is a solid shooter who did damage from 3 point land and near the basket a bit. He hunts shots on the perimeter and it's evident that he puts in the work on his own. He also can take a driving lane if there is one, and he uses his touch and coordination to drop in close range shots. Beyond his scoring, he can set up his teammates for open looks.
