In a defensive slugfest, North Jersey champion Gill St. Bernard's held off a second half run by Holy Cross Prep to take home the Non-Public B state championship. Senior guard and Canisius commit [player_tooltip player_id='1919211' first='Dorsett' last='Mulcahy'] led the way with a game-high 14 points.

In an ugly showing from both sides, Mulcahy was one of the only players on the floor to put together a smooth offensive game. The senior swingman led the way for the Knights with a game-high 14 points while showcasing his versatility and efficiency. He was effective using his size to deliberately work to his spots off the dribble and finish with touch over the top of smaller Holy Cross guards. Mulcahy was also able to initiate some offense from the post, using his passing ability to punish double teams. It was the perfect way to cap a storied career before heading off to Canisius after graduation.

Providing a consistent two-way spark in a game that was devoid of many offensive highlights, Junker delivered 11 points in support of Mulcahy, showing his toughness and polished skillset in the process. The sophomore guard was able to use his handle to generate pressure on the paint, finishing at the rim at an impressive rate for a guard his size. Junker showed a quick and confident release from 3 both off the catch and the dribble while playing tough-nosed on-ball defense at the point of attack on the other end. He was also able to flash his passing feel on a handful of transition opportunities. The future appears bright for Junker, who already holds a couple D1 offers and will step into a marquee role for the Knights next year.

After a porous first half offensive effort from a team standpoint, Ganges came out from the halftime locker room and made it clear that Holy Cross wouldn't go down without a fight. The senior forward scored the first six points of the second half to help shrink an 18-point deficit down to 10 before most of the crowd had returned to its seats. He scored 10 points overall, showing his ability to create his own shot out of faceups and use his length to finish effectively inside. Ganges also shows a stable foundation as a shooter, both off the catch and on his one-dribble elbow pullup. He's perhaps most impactful on the defensive end where he brings a rare blend of length and mobility that make him a difficult matchup for a wide variety of opponents. The senior forward is still young in his development, having not received significant varsity reps until this year, pointing to an intriguing upside as a ball of clay to mold whether at the small-college, prep, or even scholarship levels.

Despite going scoreless in the first half, Swain was arguably Holy Cross' most impressive performer, getting to his spots with relative consistency and composure but simply struggling to get anything to fall. He turned it around during the Lancers' second-half comeback effort, scoring 11 points with an enticing blend of shotmaking, downhill driving, and defensive playmaking. Swain was consistently looking to attack and showed impressive skill and pace to his handle, attacking effectively to either side and flashing some craft as a finisher at the rim. He has clear upside as a shooter with natural balance and consistency to his footwork. His length, activity, and wiry strength foundation made him an effective defensive presence and helped force a handful of Gill turnovers. Swain is on a clear upward trajectory in his development and could prove to be a steal at the small-college level in the long run as he sorts through heavy NJAC interest.

In a defense-first battle, Dixon deserves mention as a standout on the strength of his stifling on-ball defense at the point of attack. Dixon was relentless on that end of the floor, picking up consistently at halfcourt and refusing to allow an inch of space to an overwhelmed group of Holy Cross ballhandlers. He showed an impressive blend of strength, quickness, and technique that could be a handful for D1 guards to contend with in due time. Dixon was steady on the offensive end, contributing an efficient seven points while helping manage primary ballhandling responsibilities. He's tracking as a potential scholarship-level option with his two-way ability in the backcourt.
