Friday, March 6th I watched the 5A Championship game with Central Bobcats vs Mountain Pointe Pride.

Central led from almost start to finish to earn themselves a repeat Championship with a 62-53 win.

Here were the Standouts

[player_tooltip player_id='1150901' first='John' last='Mattingly'] Central (Pictured right)

The MVP (again) of the 5A Chip was John. He plays at his own pace and makes players around him better with lobs, pass aheads and dump offs. He will score with threes, fall aways and he has one of the most polished mid-range pull-ups off the dribble. He is deceptively faster then you think when he changes speeds and scored 24 points with 6 rebounds 1 steal and 5 assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='1873639' first='Grant' last='Mattingly'] Central (Pictured left)

The younger brother is his right hand man with scoring, defending and facilitating. He will fill it up with alley-oops, tough left or right hand layups and mid-range jumpers. He collects steals and will find teammates perfectly in stride. He scored 12 points with 7 rebounds 2 steals and 3 assists. He will explode next year when his brother heads to Nevada.

[player_tooltip player_id='1482166' first='John' last='Fahrendorf'] Central

A bigger scoring guard will rattle in threes off the catch one by one. He has one of the the quickest releases in the AIA with a high arc on the shot. He will also score with mid-range pulls and rebounds well in his area. He scored 11 points with 2 rebounds and he had a great playoff run with some huge games.

[player_tooltip player_id='1759332' first='Dom' last='Rojas'] Central

A tough undersized scoring point guard is fearless. He will score with threes off the catch more confidently then a year ago, he is deceptively fast to the basket and finishes better then you would assume with his size. He is very tough on the ball defensively and he scored 13 points with 5 rebounds 1 assist and 2 steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='2039596' first='Kelynn' last='Mount'] Central

A long and leaner power forward who moves well from end to end. He is very fluid and has natural instincts and timing to block or alter shots. He gobbles up rebounds in his area and will score with put backs. He finished with 2 points 6 rebounds 3 blocks 1 assist and 1 steal.

[player_tooltip player_id='1956218' first='Marcus' last='Isaac'] Mountain Pointe

A long power forward keeps showing you glimpses of what he can be. He protects the paint better then most with altering or blocking shots in bunches and rebounding anything near him with his sticky hands. He will score with threes off the catch, quick layups before the defense comes, dunks, offensive rebound put backs and he is very patient in the post around the opposing bigs. He had an incredible stat line of 22 points 15 rebounds and 4 blocks in their game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2466075' first='Jayvein' last='Moody'] Mountain Pointe

A dynamic combo guard is a natural scorer from all three levels. He will hit threes with deep range, pull-ups from mid-range and burst to the painted area with his speed and handle and uses the floater game. He rebounds fairly well and is quick on D. He scored 14 points with 4 rebounds and 1 steal.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194481' first='Justin' last='Kimbrough'] Mountain Pointe

A pure point guard with next level speed and a yo-yo handle. He gets to his spots and will rise up with mid-range jumpers and he will pull-up from the three point line. He plays perfectly off of the pick and roll game and finished with 14 points with 4 rebounds and 1 steal.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194806' first='Zen' last='London'] Mountain Pointe

A tough and physical, defensive scoring guard consistently defends the top opposing player and makes it harder to score on him. He will also score with threes off the catch, he cuts off the ball for layups and will hit tough shots in traffic with his frame. He scored 9 points with 5 rebounds 2 steals and 1 block.
