As we wrap up postseason play for some leagues or begin postseason play for others, our team is going to dive into sharing some of the top unsigned seniors in the area to not only acknowledge their hard work, but hopefully provide some exposure for college and prep opportunities next season. In this article, we'll cover some of the best available two-way guards in the area. Prospects that pride themselves for their play at both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. Let's get into it!

-One of the best overall unsigned prospects in the area, Shackleford really gets it done at the defensive end of the floor. Love the ball pressure that he provides as a POA defender that fights over ball screens and does a great job denying when put on the opposition's best scorer. The deflections and steals that he collects really fuel his offense on night when the jumper isn't falling, allowing his to sustain consistent 2-way production despite being the focal point of his team. His ability to play alongside other great players bodes well to his long-term future.

-Polk leverages his size and quickness to get underneath opposing ball-handlers to generate turnovers for his team, allowing him to affect the game whether he is in a starting or supporting role because of how quickly he is able to switch ends/push the pace in transition. Once he gets his teammates going and has made plays in transition, he is able to knock down shots or attack long closeouts as an off-ball guy. His ability to flip the momentum in games as a ferocious competitor has added value to every high school or AAU team that he has played with over his career.

-Smith has improved his handle to allow him to get to his spots whether he is matched up with a defender his size or smaller, often getting two feet in the paint to create for teammates or himself. He's at his best in transition as a dynamic downhill driver that can execute quick passing reads to teammates once his defender commits to cutting off his path to the rim. Smith has provided a steadying presence at both ends of the floor as a guard capable of guarding 1-3 on most opposing teams, serving as a willing switchable defender within their defensive schemes.

-Lonergan was named BCL Honorable Mention after turning in a production active 10-game stretch of game to provide play-making, defense, and shot-making while the Cavaliers dealt with some injuries in their backcourt. Lonergan showed a willingness to take charges, serve as a good primary or helper in the Cavs' run n jump schemes, and guard multiple positions as the defensive heartbeat for this group. His ability to force his matchup sideline or funnel them towards help depending on different defensive lineups was crucial in several big games. He also served as a cerebral off-ball guard adept at jumping passing lanes to create extra opportunities for his team in transition, infusing life into his team's offense during stagnant stretches of play.

-Proved his value all season long and in a productive run through the DCIAAs as a dynamic 2-way guard that is constantly bullying his way to the rim. The physicality translates to the other side of the ball as Hall can guard up or down several positions in the lineup because of his strength, giving the Roughriders a dynamic switchable senior that knows where to be at all times. Love the motor and energy that he brings to the floor every night as the senior leader for this group.

-Peterson carved out a nice role in Gonzaga's rotation as a super pesky defender that jumps over ball screens to send his man to the sideline or back towards halfcourt to disrupt the offensive flow of his opponents. His ability to get into a rhythm quickly throughout the game and face guard shooters, matchup with primary ball handlers, and dig down on the post proved invaluable for a young Purple Eagles group that surprised a lot of folks this season with several upset wins. I always came away impressed with the way that his unselfish play trickled down the lineup, spurring runs and calling out plays for his team at both ends of the floor in year one of the Keith Urgo era.
