We all know who fills up the box score each time out. The leading scorers, the names that jump off the stat sheet. But winning basketball is built on more than scoring. It's built on the guys who do the dirty work, set the tone, and keep the team steady when things get chaotic. The engines for their team. The pairs that impact winning in ways numbers can't explain. Here are the top glue guy duos in the 6A/5A/4A Northern League.

Fossil Ridge has a dangerous trio that they funnel the ball to, and everyone else around them fills in the pieces. A player who has stepped up and been a complementary piece has been a 6'3 junior combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='2398189' first='Jaimeson' last='Peterson']. Peterson is on a tear right now as his team is riding a 6-game winning streak in conference play. He's been efficient from the field, has knocked down the 3 ball, and even stepped in and been one of the team's best rebounders. He fills in the gaps when needed and is putting it together. He's had a couple of double-digit performances, including a 14-assist outing, and it goes to show how versatile he is. He's a player who has his team playing really well right now, and that does not go unnoticed, just because it's not ONLY in the scoring department. Solid prospect

Gray is a 6'3 Swiss Army Knife for a team that is currently streaking and looking more like the team that we expected at the start of the year. They're playing well and finally getting on the same page, and Gray is a big reason for that. Gray is the epitome of consistent and dependable, and it's been that way since he was a sophomore. He's battle-tested, he competes on both ends of the floor, and he rebounds with the best of them. He's a player who makes plays without having to have plays run for him. He's a defender who can guard multiple positions, he stretches the floor, and keeps the ball in rotation. He's a glue guy and one of the secret weapons for a talented Fossil Ridge squad

Urich is another player whose numbers don't jump off the screen, but his impact in games says more. When he's on the floor, there's ease to the way that the team is playing. Urich is a player who worked his way up the ranks and is finally earning varsity minutes. He's a hard worker who takes care of the ball, keeps the ball popping, and is constantly moving. He is confident with the ball in his hands but is willing to do the small things. He's stepped into a bigger role in the past few games and is starting to see things come together for him offensively. He's a player who was not on our radar but is starting to be a bright spot for the team, and his flashes when watching this team don't go unnoticed.

Noel is an athletic and tough-nosed prospect for Windsor who stays on the floor due to his toughness. It took him a bit to get settled, but with how he's performed as of late, he's going to be quite the player for the defending champs moving forward. Noel is a sophomore difference-maker who is in the middle of his best stretch of the season. A switch flipped for him in the new year and he hasn't looked back since. He's put up 19 points, 12 points and 11 points on incredible efficiency, the team won all of those game, and he's also been an improved playmaker as well. He's been rebounding and setting the tone defensively and that's a player you build around.

McClelland is a player who has shown flashes, but right now, is his moment. What I like about him is how impactful he is. It is not all about scoring with him, and he finds ways to still make his mark when his shot is not falling. He's a rebounder with a motor; he slashes and runs the floors and finishes. He also stays shot ready to keep the defense honest as well. As of late, he's been a bit more assertive, and that's giving him trips to the foul line where he's finishing from there. He has to continue to find ways to be the difference-maker in games and filling the boxscore. He's a glue guy that deserves some praise, and we've been following along this season.

Benson is a player who we have not written about before and is a player who is demanding attention with his play, especially since the new year began. Rocky Mountain is starting to find a groove where they're picking up wins and he's been a X-factor who has been swinging games, even when it's not just scoring. He's been one of the team's best rebounders, he's also found open teammates and been a plug-in player who fills holes. He runs the floor, defends well and uses his athleticism to his advantage. We're curious to see if his play continues but we could not shout him out for his play. He's been solid.
