With that in mind, we wanted to take a moment to recognize some of the most impressive performances out of the MIAA in the last few weeks.

Below are five prospects who left their mark on the hardwood:

Taylor, a senior guard out of Somerset Berkley, has been on an absolute heater as of late. After helping Somerset Berkley to a state championship last winter, he has taken on an even bigger scoring and playmaking load this winter. The 6'1" guard passed the 1,000-point mark in early February and had a remarkable game just two days ago when he scored 51 points and hauled in 12 rebounds. He has a college ready frame, plays off a quick first step as a driver, and can score it with creativity around the rim. He's super competitive, contributes on both ends of the floor, and has proven that his play can directly impact winning.

Bumila, a senior forward out of Bishop Feehan, has been absolutely dominant on the hardwood this winter. One of the top baseball prospects in the entire country, he'll head to the University of Texas in the fall, Bumila is a load on the basketball court. On February 6th, he scored 46 points in the first half of a game to surpass the 1,000-point mark for his career. Last night, he dropped 41 points in a game against Attleboro. The big man moves well for his size, can score over either shoulder in the post, and does a great job of rim running in transition. At 6'9" and 250 pounds, few, if any, prospects in the MIAA can match his combination of size, strength, and athleticism. While his future lies in baseball, he undoubtedly could've played basketball at a high level in college.

Brown, a senior guard out of Holbrook, has to be at the top of any list of top scorers in the state of Massachusetts. The 5'10" guard surpassed the 2,000-point mark for his career on January 30th, has scored at least 40 points in five games this winter, and has a single-game high on the season of 54 points. Brown is electric with the ball in his hands, has the ability to get anywhere he wants on the floor, and is a dynamic three level scorer. He's elite in the open floor, has one of the quickest first steps in the MIAA, and, while undersized, has the ability to score with a ton of creativity and touch around the rim.

Rodriguez, a junior guard out of Salem, has continued to impress with his ability to score the basketball while increasing the impact he has on winning basketball games this winter. After bursting onto the scene as a sophomore, when he scored 50 points in a game, Rodriguez has shown that he's capable of scoring 25+ on any given night and, on January 20th, etched his name into the Salem record books, becoming the 9th player in program history to surpass the 1,000-point mark for his career. He's a long, 5'11" guard that has the ability to make plays with the basketball in his hands or to move off the ball and score it in bunches from behind the arc. He plays at different speeds, knows how to get into his mid-range game off the bounce, and is capable of scoring with creativity around the rim.

Fortier, a sophomore guard out of St. Mary's, has established himself as one of the top underclassmen in the MIAA. The 6'0" guard passed the 1,000-point mark on February 15th, an incredible feat for a sophomore, and has quickly asserted himself as threat to score 20+ points any time he steps on the floor. He's a knockdown shooter from behind the arc, both off the bounce and in catch and shoot situations, and has learned how to leverage his shooting to open up driving lanes. He isn't afraid to play through contact in the paint, can score it in multiple ways around the basket, and does a nice job of elevating into his jumper in the mid-range.
