<p>On Friday January 30th I attended the match-up of 6A <strong>Desert Vista Thunder</strong> hosting the 6A <strong>Millennium Tigers.</strong> The Tigers are one of the best teams in the AIA and have a chance to win the OPEN. Desert Vista should make the 6A playoffs. </p>

<p><strong>Freshman Game</strong> (<strong>57-52 Millennium won)</strong></p>

<p>Am athletic forward who can play both positions. He is a very quick leaper and a top end rebounder in his area as he springs up in a blink of an eye. He moves well in space and will block shots. He will score it with mid-range jumper, kiss it off the glass from 8-feet and score with offensive rebound put backs. He finished with 13 points and a ton of rebounds. </p>

<p>A scoring combo guard with decent size is a two-way player. He will play the passing lanes and collect steals with quick hands and feet and he is a plus rebounder for position. He will score with threes, downhill takes with either hand and offensive rebound put backs. He finished with 13 points and a few assists. </p>

<p>A decent sized combo guard can make some plays but prefers to score. He will get downhill and handles the contact well, he uses the euro step and can blow by his opponents. He rebounds well with some length and collects steals. He finished with 10+ points and 3 steals. </p>

<p>A crafty wing forward can create his own offense and defend. He keeps his dribble alive versus heavy pressure and the southpaw will score with offensive rebound put backs. He has a big motor to grab boards out of his area and scored 14+ points.</p>

<p><strong>Junior Varsity Game (61-53 Millennium won)</strong></p>

<p>A highly skilled combo guard has one of the cleanest strokes in the class. He moves off the ball and comes with deep three point range. He will shoot it with mid-range jumpers and his euro step game is tough. He will get inside and rebound plus collect steals. He scored 23 points and also scored 11 points in two quarters in the freshmen game. His shot preparation is the best I have seen in this class so far.</p>

<p>A long and lean wing/guard is a two-way type of player. He is a quick second jumper and rebounds well and will block shots in his area using his long limbs. He is a sneaky good passer and he has a pure stroke from the three point line. He finished with 12 points. </p>

<p>A point forward type who is very calm under pressure. He is very patient and he will thread the needle. He is a plus athlete who makes quick moves to the basket. He is a capable three point shooter and a very good defender. He is a strong two-handed rebounder and will block shots off the glass with his bounce.</p>

<p>A skilled point guard is a smart passer and plays with a high feel for the game. He makes reads with either hand and he is a very good on-ball defender using his stronger upper body and quick feet. He will score with mid-range jumpers, get downhill with power and has some range. He collected steals and scored 6 points on JV and in the freshmen game. </p>

<p>A tough combo guard who is a two-way player. He is a good on-ball defender and rebounds well. He scores with cuts off the ball and he made some clutch free throws down the stretch. He is a glue guy for the Tigers and plays the right way. </p>

<p>An undersized pure point guard is a really good passer as the ball gets out of his hands quickly. He always has his head up and will spray it around with up the court ropes on a dime and drop offs as he makes it easy to play with him. He can score with floaters and gets to the basket. </p>

<p>A decent sized scoring guard or wing. He is a plus rebounder in his area and smartly plays off of two-feet. He will make a play for a teammate with good passing skills and score with threes off the catch and pull-ups from mid-range. He can defend a couple positions. </p>

<p>A scoring lead guard will score with blow by buckets, hesitates to the basket, earn trips to the free throw line and make players around him better. His speed in the open court is impressive and he is a quick on the ball defensively. He scored 5 points with a few assists. </p>

<p>A tough and physical small forward with a no-quit attitude. He will score with drop steps inside and uses counter moves. He can also step out and shoot it from the perimeter. He is a really good passer as his most underrated skill. He gobbles up rebounds in his area and scored 8 points with 5 rebounds and a few assists. </p>

<p>The top player in the sophomore class had an impressive showing. He scored 22 points while barley missing any shots in the game and most of his points came in the 3rd. He scores with dunks, euro steps, turn around fall aways, catch threes, mid-range jumpers and he is a quick second jumper to get on the glass. </p>

<p>A versatile wing forward plays and defends nearly every position. He is a good passer and he will drive and kick it to a teammate. He scores it nearly every way with cuts off the ball, dunks on the break, threes off the catch with range, block shots and rebounds the ball at a high level. He scored 17 points with 7+ rebounds. </p>

<p>The classic 3 and D wing forward is not only a lock down defender but the ultimate glue guy with skill. He will hit threes in the corner or straight away. He will dunk it with high flying above the rim flushes, get to the rim, make perfect passes to teammates and collect steals, rebounds and block shots. He slows down anyone he defends and finished with 13 points. </p>

<p>A skilled scoring guard comes into the game off the bench and fires away. He has a picture perfect stroke from the three point line and has one of the shots that look good every time. He uses the floater and rebounds well in his area using his frame. He finished with 8 points</p>

<p>An undersized tough point guard will drive and kick it with his left or right hand. He is quick as a hiccup and will blow by his opponents. He will hit the three off the catch and score with tear drops. He finished with 13 points with 4 assists and 4 rebounds. He is quietly making this team competitive after they lost some players to the transfer portal. </p>

<p>A physical wing forward who is turning into the classic 3 and D type. He defends a couple positions and rebounds well in his area. He is a tough and strong. He will shoot it from mid-range and can get hot from the three point line off the catch. He rattled in four triples on his way from scoring a team high 18 points. </p>

<p>A hyper athletic wing forward flies on the break and will defend and play multiple positions for the Thunder. He will clean the glass and score with offensive rebound put backs, he will shoot it from mid and in and get trips to the free throw line. </p>

<p>A quick guard is one of their future pieces to the puzzle. He is the son of the coach who plays the right way. He is naturally quick with a nice burst and can play on or off the ball. He rebounds well, has quick feet to defend and will hit the three off the catch. </p>
