They handled business against <a href="//generic-entity?number=1">Collegiate School</a> in a game that felt like a postseason preview from the opening tip. The Titans jumped out early, stringing together multiple possessions that ended in clean, high-percentage looks. The Cougars made it uncomfortable. There were bodies on the floor. They executed hard hedges on ball screens. They applied constant pressure on the glass. It was chippy, physical, and competitive to the final buzzer. Trinity's size and versatility ultimately proved to be the difference, but both teams showed why they're respected in the area.    Gregory continues to look the part of a high-major prospect. At 6'8 with legitimate floor-spacing ability, he immediately changes how defenses have to guard ball screens and help situations. He opened the night knocking down a confident three and never lost rhythm. What stands out most is his comfort playing inside and out. He confidently steps into shots off the catch, seals deep in the paint, and finishes through contact.   Defensively, he was just as impactful. Gregory altered multiple shots around the rim and controlled the glass on both ends. His timing as a weak-side rim protector is advanced for his age, and he rebounds outside his area. As he continues to add strength, he projects as a true stretch-four who can also play small-ball five. There's no question he's firmly in Division I territory, and his long-term ceiling is extremely high.     Patrick delivered another statement performance. He's a three-level scorer who doesn't force the action — he simply lets the game come to him. He knocked down perimeter jumpers with his feet set, attacked closeouts decisively, and finished strong through contact in the lane. In transition, he runs hard and reminding everyone that he can turn defense into quick offense.   He nearly posted a double-double and did a strong job rebounding in traffic. What impressed me most was his poise with the ball. He's comfortable initiating offense, creating off one or two dribbles, and making the extra pass when help rotates. At 6'6" with that skillset, he's a 2027 name that college staffs should already be tracking closely.     Rutley is a new player to the area after transferring in, but he's quickly carving out a role. The 6'4 wing stretches the floor with deep range and shoots it with confidence. He buried multiple threes. He was especially dangerous in the fourth quarter. He scored in double figures in the final frame and helped seal the game.   He's not just a shooter, though. Rutley uses his length and athleticism well on defense, jumping passing lanes and turning steals into breakaway opportunities. He changes speeds effectively off the bounce and isn't hesitant to attack when defenders overplay his shot. As he continues to get acclimated, he's another 2027 prospect who will gain traction heading into the spring and summer.     Mooney is the engine for this young Collegiate group. At 5'11, he compensates with quickness, feel, and confidence. He's excellent when operating in ball screens. He keeps defenders on his hip, gets to his floater, or finds the roll man at the right time. His ability to read help defenders and spray the ball out to shooters keeps the offense flowing.   Even in a loss, his competitiveness stood out. He never backed down and consistently put pressure on the defense with his handle and change of pace. Collegiate's future is bright, and Mooney's leadership and skill set are a big reason why.     Beggerow brings scoring punch to the perimeter. He can heat up quickly from beyond the arc and plays with visible confidence. He's comfortable creating off the dribble. He effectively finds his spots in the mid-range when defenders run him off the line.   Beyond the scoring, he competes. He attacks gaps without hesitation and doesn't shy away from physical play. For a young backcourt, his ability to stretch the floor will be crucial. Creating offense will be critical as Collegiate continues to develop its core.     Broast continues to embody toughness. A multi-sport athlete and committed lacrosse player to <a href="//generic-entity?number=2">Christopher Newport University</a>, his physicality translates seamlessly to the hardwood. He plays bigger than his 6'0 frame, battling inside against length and never giving ground.   He recorded another double-double, finishing strong around the rim and running the floor hard in transition. Broast consistently earns extra possessions through offensive rebounds and loose balls. His athleticism and motor make him difficult to match up with, and he sets the tone for Collegiate's gritty identity.    <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Final Thoughts</h3>   This was a high-level, competitive matchup that showcased size, skill, and toughness. Trinity looks every bit like a contender in the <a href="//generic-entity?number=3">Virginia Prep League</a> race. They have multiple 2027 prospects who are capable of taking over games. Collegiate, despite the loss, continues to build a strong foundation around a talented young core that competes every possession.   Both programs are trending in the right direction. If this one was any indication, the next meeting will be must-watch basketball.
