New to Prep Hoops in the 2025–26 season are Power Scores, a data-driven formula that accounts for win percentage, point differential, strength of schedule, and the overall strength of each classification. Every team in South Carolina receives a unique score based on these factors. Below, we highlight some of the top teams by class - then take a look at where your favorite team stacks up statewide.

Class AAAAA Division 1 - Cane Bay (93.79)

Checking in at #1 in 5A Division 1 is the 15-2 Cane Bay Cobras. Their 93.79 Power Score is boosted by a remarkable 25.8 average margin of victory, including six wins by 30 or more points. On paper, their most impressive wins came early in the season, at home against Ashley Ridge in the opener and on the road against Spartanburg in early December. Their two losses are both to Charleston-area powers, losing by 5 at West Ashley and by 7 in their region opener with defending champion Goose Creek. Although they have [player_tooltip player_id='2813875' first='Jamel' last='McKinley'] at 12.6 points per game and [player_tooltip player_id='2384556' first='Jahleel' last='Sanders'] at 10.3 points per game, my question mark with the Cobras is who will be the guy who leads them offensively in big spots late in the year?

Class AAAAA Division 2 - Westwood (95.11)

The highest-rated South Carolina team according to Prep Hoops Power Scores is Westwood High School. The Redhawks have what is probably the best win of any team in the state, knocking off Ridge View last Monday. [player_tooltip player_id='2078979' first='D'Marcus' last='Thomas'] put them on his back in that game, dragging them to a win with 27 points on 5 3PM after starting the game down 13-0. Westwood also beat an elite North Augusta squad by six on a neutral floor at the Magic City Holiday Invitational. Their leading scorer is [player_tooltip player_id='2447621' first='Jayden' last='Crews'] at 14.5 PPG, while also at 40% from the perimeter on the season, but they do have an underrated guard in [player_tooltip player_id='1303623' first='Cylan' last='McLeod'], who is a defensive difference maker while also at 47% from the perimeter at the time of writing.

Class AAAA - North Augusta (94.61)

Other than two losses in four days to Gray Collegiate and Westwood, the Yellow Jackets have looked like a dominant team so far this season. They won the prestigious Lexington Roundball Classic (formerly Cayce Roundball Classic) in late December, with impressive wins over TL Hanna and Dutch Fork. The Yellow Jackets also have some nice wins against fellow CSRA competition like Cross Creek (GA), Evans (GA), and Butler (GA), but they will be in a one-game hole in their region because of that loss to Gray Collegiate in their region opener. North Augusta plays a physical brand of basketball, which is very translatable to the playoffs, and has battle-tested guards like [player_tooltip player_id='2289958' first='Jordan' last='Rouse'], [player_tooltip player_id='1206192' first='Quh'mareon' last='Webb'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1875715' first='Toian' last='Nabriat'].

Class AAA - Christ Church (94.09)

At the top of Class 3A is Christ Church. They have the third-highest overall score at 94.09, including two 4A wins and three 5A wins. The Cavaliers are one of only a handful of teams that are undefeated against in-state competition, with their only loss of the season coming against San Jose Prep at the Louie Golden Classic. They have stacked together four straight impressive wins: beating a good Mullins squad, topping Carolina Forest at their place, and beating Dutch Fork to win the Panther Classic, before coming back home to rout their biggest region challenger, St. Joseph's 60-26. Christ Church has the size to compete with some of the dogs in the Lower State, but they will go as far as [player_tooltip player_id='2361714' first='Jonathan' last='Perry'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1807305' first='David' last='Dixon'] can take them offensively.

Class AA - High Point Academy (91.56)

After a rocky start to the season, dropping two of their first three at the Impact Sports Invitational, the High Point Academy Grizzlies have torn off 14 wins in a row to put themselves back at the top of Class 2A. They returned several key contributors to a team that fell in the State Championship game a season ago, like [player_tooltip player_id='1679972' first='J'sean' last='Sanders'], who puts up 18.9 PPG and 7.8 RPG, along with [player_tooltip player_id='2314654' first='Chris' last='Copeland'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2692025' first='Joc' last='Miller']. The Grizzlies are off to an excellent start in region play, topping Chesnee by two and Liberty by 18. Those were likely to be their two biggest challenges, so now they would be a marginal favorite to win what is one of the best regions in the entire state.

Class A - Green Sea Floyds (88.51)

Capping off the list is Class 1A's Green Sea Floyds. This might come as a surprise to some people, because the Trojans are ranked #6 in the SCBCA Poll, but I'm here to tell you they are far from a pretender in the state's smallest classification. They post an impressive 14-2 record at the time of writing, but those two losses come against the same team - 3A power and local rival Loris High School. Their power score is boosted by 5A wins over North Myrtle Beach and Socastee, as well as two 3A wins over Aynor, but I was able to see for myself what the Trojans are made of when they beat Charleston Math & Science in December. [player_tooltip player_id='2013289' first='Jayden' last='Crawford'], [player_tooltip player_id='2013329' first='Tahj' last='Brown'], and Judah Lee are the names to know for Green Sea Floyds.
