The 5A Division 2 State Champs had two players named to the SCBCA All-State team. One of them was Crews, their primarily off-ball guard who can fill it up with jumpers in a hurry. That’s what he did not only in the Championship Game, but the entire season long. Jayden was also a surprisingly good rebounder, which proved to be important for the Redhawks for stretches throughout the season.

Another wing who helped lead his school to glory for the first time is Crews. Although he got off to a shaky start by missing his first three shots, Jayden was extremely important in keeping the Redhawks in range of Greenville’s fast start. Once he really got going, Jayden’s jump shooting was as effective and efficient as ever, connecting on shots from both the mid-range and perimeter. Despite only being listed at 6’3″, Crews has been Westwood’s leading rebounder all season, and he brought in 9 boards in the final game of the year. Jayden put up 23 points on 4-7 3FG in the win, cementing his place in Westwood Basketball history.

Another Redhawk who had a big game on Thursday is Crews. Although he is one of the better shooters in the state, Jayden was able to make his presence felt without having his best shooting night. He had lots of success as a driver, displaying his athleticism as he finished around bodies at the rim and put up second-chance points. Crews was also extremely active on the other end, forcing havoc with double teams and full-court pressure. He finished with 17 points and 3 steals in the win.

rounds out my list of standouts from the Phenom Memorial Day Classic in Rock Hill. Crews is a potential stock riser from this Spring and also impressed me at the Phenom Challenge last month. He is a knockdown shooter and his coach will often call BLOB’s to get him open on the perimeter. Both of Jayden’s made threes were in the first half in the left corner, but hit a nice pull-up jumper in the mid-range. When working off the dribble, Crews has a quick first step and is a creative finisher at the rim. He tallied 10 points, 2 assists, and 3 steals in a loss to the eventual 17U Blue Bracket champions.

. Jayden was a weapon off the bench for his team on Saturday, adding 14 points in the win over Next Level. He scored from all three levels on the floor, but he was especially effective from behind the arc and at the rim. Jayden’s positional size combined with his mobility allows him to get by defenders or shoot over them. Along with the scoring, he provided great energy by crashing the glass, having active hands, and getting on the floor for loose balls.

Crews really has a nice stroke from behind the arc when he gets things going. Jayden has a quick shot release and really shoots the ball with good mechanics. He likes to play downhill to the bucket and score the ball in transition.
Jayden makes heady decisions when handling the rock. He made the move up from #112 to #86 in this latest update of the 2026 Palmetto State Class Rankings.
