Many new faces stepped up as we got the 2025/26 boys basketball season started. As we gear up for the second half of the high school season I wanted to take a moment to highlight players who broke out and started making a name for themselves. Here are some players who are making noise in Southern Arizona.

White is emerging as another top two way guard in the 2027 class. He's a relentless on ball defender who will steal the ball and finish on the other end with an athletic dunk. Has a nice mid range and shoots well from beyond the arc. White is averaging 16.6 points, 1.2 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game. White score his season high vs a talented Bourgade Catholic with 29 points. He is currently shooting 51 percent from the field. He finishes really well at the rim through contact and knows how to get himself to the free throw line. Very confident player who doesn't back down from anyone.

Lambe is a strong, physical forward who simply out hustles his opponents. Hes a big reason the Lions are 9-2 overall and 5-1 in PowerPoint games. Lambe is averaging a double double on the season with 10.7 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. He's adding 2.0 assists, 1.9 steals and 3 blocks per game. He's playing very dominant in the post. Attacks the boards with purpose getting his team extra possessions. The Lions have their eyes set on winning a consecutive state championship and do do so they'll need Lambe to continue to have a strong season.

Flores is off to a great season. The lead guard for a very deep and talented squad for the Badgers has made some big plays in clutch situations and has Tucson High with a 6-4 record in powerpoint games after an extremely tough four game start to their season. Flores is averaging 14.8 points, 2.8 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. He is shooting 48 percent from the field and 49 percent from the perimeter. He has a season high against Mica Mountain with 28 points and has surpassed the 20+ point mark 6 times this season. Flores is a true point guard who can control the pace of the game and makes high level reads. He impacts the game tremendously and makes great plays consistently in high pressure situations.

Buchler has gotten his game to a whole new level this season. Everything I've seen from him has left me with no doubt this kid can play at the next level. On the season Nitai is averaging 13.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 2.0 blocks per game. He is very skilled in the post with his dribble and footwork. He has zero hesitation going for the dunk with a defender in front of his and is usually successful. He plays his role and impacts the game at a high level doing so. He can work the pick and roll game very well and pop out for the three if needed. Buchler is already a state champion in the 1A conference and is looking to help the Badgers contest for one in the 6A conference.

Teasley is slowly opening up some eyes and will continue to work his way up. The sophomore is off to a great season for the Sahuaro Cougars. Isaac is averaging 14.8 points, 2.4 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. He has 36 made three pointers made which is currently 12th in the state on 40 percent shooting. His best scoring game of the season was against Maricopa where he finished with 26 and was 6 for 9 from the perimeter. Teasley is a sharp shooter and comes up big in key situations for the Cougars. Currently on pace to eclipse the 1,000 career points mark in his high school career.

The St. Augustine Wolves are off to a 7-1 start and currently undefeated in power point games. Acuna is a big reason for the success the Wolves are having this season. The junior guard is currently averaging 24.7 points, 2.8 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. He has a season high of 38 points against Tombstone and has gone for over 20 points seven times this season. He is currently 251 points away from the 1,000 milestone and could very well reach it by the end of this season. Acuna had 43 made three pointers on the season which currently ranks him 9th in the state. He leads the 2A conference in points per game and is currently in my opinion the leading candidate for 2A South OPOY.

Alavi is your do it all player for the Santa Rita Eagles. A guard that crashes the boards with a purpose leading to second chance scores for the Eagles. Alavi is averaging 19.0 points, 2.1 assists, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.4 steals per game. He has three 30+ pint games on the season including a season high 36 against St. Augustine. Alavi is shooting 45 percent from the field as well as 44 percent from the perimeter with 25 made three pointers of the season so far. A dynamic playmaker for the Eagles.

Beck is having a terrific breakout season for the Thunderbolts. A wing who can space the floor effectively and make plays. Beck is physically strong in the paint on both sides of the ball. A gifted rebounder with good skill and ability to score effectively inside. Great athletic ability to finish well above the rim. One of the better shot blockers in Southern Arizona. Becks game has improved dramatically and he is a rising 2027 prospect. Plays with high energy every possession and impacts the game. Definitely on his way to end of season region honors.`
