Against Southmoore, Durham started the game on fire. Knocked down four threes in the first half. Drained a deep one off the dribble by using a hop stop. Then was a reliable outlet as a catch and shoot spacer. Especially as he's smart at moving to openings. Relocated to an opening when his teammates grab an offensive rebound, ran the floor for a three in transition. Ended up with five threes in the win. Usually was wide open because of his heady off the ball movement.

Durham is also more than just a floor spacing weapon. He's one of the primary ball handlers for the Eagles. Did a good job of reading the floor off of ball screens. Plays with patience in those moments to give his teammates time to cut to the rim or find the space to attack himself. Clearly is making the best of his 580 PG education.

Owens has his Rangers undefeated and ranked second in Class 3A. Last Thursday, they hosted the third ranked Chargers and the Ranger came out gunning. Was pulling from DEEP and hitting, leading to an early lead. After his deep shooting cooled off, he kept Roland up by attacking the rim. On drives he has quick first step, very good balance and control to snake around defenders. Finishes with either hands. Including on floaters in the 4-6 foot range. One of his biggest scores came in the fourth, an old fashion three point play. Where he took the bump, stayed in the air and still finished. He may be young, but he simply scores like an upperclassman.

The second part of the Eagles' sophomore punch in their sophomore win. He was big down the stretch by getting buckets all over the court. Knocked down a pair from deep. Hit in the mid-range, including a nifty turnaround jump. And got all the way to the rim for a strong take. Well rounded scorer, who makes the future potentially bright for Ike in their first year under their new coach.

20 points and the dub for Bossell. Started strong as a scorer, getting to the cup and also making the defense pay when they sagged off. When EC's quick, smaller guards tried to speed him up, he did a good of playing at his own pace and then going by them. The game seems to be slowing down for the sophomore. Made better reads as a passer and might be trending to be more of a PG than a combo. Starting to be more athletic too, including a chase down block in the second half. The future seems to be now for Bossell, as he's enjoying an outstanding January.

Bubba D is an all action guard. He gambles on defense, but has a near supernatural sense for it. Made a couple key steals in the second half when gambling in EC's zone. Which is key for his success, as transition is where he thrives. But he had some good moments in the halfcourt too. When he's set and under control, he can hit deeper threes or get to the rim.

A problem he ran into in the game is East Central spent much of the game chasing from behind. Which led to some out of control play for Douglass. Especially when they got down double digits, even on stream could tell he was pressing. And instead of stringing consistent production to chip away at the lead, some of his decisions felt like he was trying to hit a homerun. And get it all back at once.

Freshmen are fun to watch, because they have these moments where you can see the player they can potentially become. In a big game on the road, Young had plenty of those moments. Opened his scoring with a three nearly from the Ranger logo on the court. Sees the court fantastically in transition/when bringing it up, and has feathery, accurate touch on his passes. To end the third, he drained a tough three that stopped the bleeding. Had another moment where he chased down an overthrown pass in transition and immediately turned into a midrange jumper. The combination of shooting and passing abilities allow him to already impact the biggest games now. And are great teasers to the type of player Young can be as an upperclassman.
