Today we will look at many of the top teams shaping the Class B-1 race as we roll towards postseason play. With many incredible teams and players, this list will look to trim down title contenders, while also spotlighting players across the state.

#10 Wilson (Henryetta) (10-4)

Wilson enters our midseason list, ranked tenth. The Tigers have played a very difficult schedule, with three of four losses to 3A-6A clubs. They have won four of five, with three more solid tests upcoming. Over the next three weeks, they will see two more ranked opponents.

Top Performers

[player_tooltip player_id='2801092' first='Ke'shon' last='Shelburn'] | Guard

Shelburn just surpassed 1,500 career points in a win over Seminole (4A), two weeks ago. The senior has led the state tournament in scoring the past two seasons and looks to lead his team to another deep run in a few weeks. Shelburn can do it all for the Tigers on both ends of the floor. He is a tough shot-maker on the offensive end, that plays with tremendous energy. His ability to elevate and inspire those around him has provided Wilson with a ton of wins the past few years.

[player_tooltip player_id='2364390' first='Za'brien' last='Shelburn'] | Guard

Za'brien compliments his brother through his explosive play. Dynamic with the ball in his hands, the junior excels when pushing tempo and getting downhill into the paint. He puts a ton of pressure on defenders to stay in front of him. His aggressive style speeds up opposing guards on the defensive end as well.

#9 Hammon (13-5)

Hammon is another team that has seemingly been sharpened by some very good competition so far. With close losses to powerful Class A schools, Cheyenne/Reydon and Cyril, the Warriors are a hardened club. Winners in seven of their last eight, they look to keep the momentum going this week in the Bi-County Tournament in Merritt.

Top Performers

Tripp Higgins | Guard

Tripp is one of the best pure shooters in the state. The junior is nearly automatic when left open beyond the arc. The Warriors do a fantastic job of screening for him and creating different ways to get him easy shots. Higgins also has the ability to hit contested shots over the defense.

Kellyn Bullcoming | Guard

Bullcoming does a little bit of everything for this team. The senior uses his length well on both ends of the court. He operates at a high level in transition with a strong ability to finish at the rim. Defensively, his length can disrupt entry passes and force steals.

#8 Sasakwa (13-1)

The Vikings only loss is to an outstanding Varnum team. They have won eleven in a row as they enter tournament play this week in Wapanucka. This team really excels on the offensive end, scoring over 70 points in ten of fourteen games so far.

Top Performers

Joshua Jones | Guard

Jones has a unique skill set on both ends of the court. His ability to force turnovers produces a ton of fastbreak points for the Vikings. The sophomore is also the number one option for his team on the offensive end. Jones is an efficient scorer that can provide a lift for his team in many ways. He is not only the best shooter, but also the best ballhandler for his team. Jones routinely drives past defenders and finishes at the rim.

Defensively, the Vikings like to press and force turnovers. Jones is the one that gets players lined up and helps to communicate strategy while he is on the floor. His leadership and effort are unmatched.

Boston Lowe | Guard

Lowe is a tremendous shooter with unlimited range. He plays well with Jones, finding openings beyond the arc and staying shot ready. If this team wants to make a deep run in the postseason, look for Lowe to continue to provide a scoring boost, not only as a shooter but also in transition when turnovers have been created.

Darius Henderson | Guard

Darius is an x-factor for this team moving forward. Not only can he run the floor and produce points in transition, but he also plays extremely hard on the defensive end. Henderson is a nuisance to so many by the energy that he brings. He creates countless back taps, deflections and steals with his activity.

#7 Glencoe (16-2)

The Panthers are 3-2 against teams ranked in the top 20. They have performed well against some very good competition, with the only loss to a very good Kellyville team (3A). This team does several things well. At the top of the list is 3-point shooting, balanced scoring and forcing turnovers on defense. The depth of this team is noteworthy with strong contributions from a lot of players on both ends. Other than our top performers, some other notable playmakers have been Maddox Schubert and Cameron Racy.

Top Performers

Preston Bates | Guard

Bates can really shoot the ball from 3-point land. His ability to find open spots and be ready to shoot is something that the rest of his team can always rely on. At 6'3”, his shot is rarely challenged to the point of throwing off his rhythm as a shooter.

Kent Rossander | Guard

The junior can do a bunch of things well for the Panthers. Rossander can both shoot the ball from deep and find the open man with the ball in his hands. Kent seems to always be under control and does not force a lot of bad passes. Some of his look ahead passes generate a lot of zip on the ball and create fast break opportunities for others.

Hollis Garfield | Guard

Hollis is the best athlete of the bunch. He excels in transition and is a unique finisher. The junior has very good body control to go with his athleticism when getting to the rim. If Garfield can continue to make open shots to complement his ability to get into the paint, watch out for this group. On any given night, they could produce a different leading scorer making this team difficult to prepare for.

#6 Fort Cobb-Broxton (14-4)

The Mustangs have four wins against top 20 opponents, making them formidable as the season continues. This team can play in the high 40's, as well as into the 80's. The ability to adjust and find ways to win is unique. They are hoping that these experiences and adjustments will continue to serve them well as the season goes on.

Top Performers

[player_tooltip player_id='2402550' first='Kreed' last='Rogers'] | Guard

The sophomore leads the way for this team. Rogers seemingly never forces the issue offensively and his team moves the ball very well on that end of the floor. He understands matchups and has an outstanding feel for the game, finding teammates in both open areas and against favorable matchups. As a scorer, he has the ability to draw fouls by attacking the paint and putting pressure on the defense. Rogers can shoot the ball efficiently from outside but is at his best when he is on the attack as both a driver and cutter.

Bode Raines | Forward

Raines has the length and ability to make a difference around the basket. The senior will look to post up smaller opponents in the paint, while also looking to play aggressively with the ball in his hands. Raines has very good body control as he can also rise over defenders with solid mid-range jump shot.
