The Somerset Losee Lions jumped out to a 14-7 lead in the first 8 minutes of play. [player_tooltip player_id='2477281' first='DJ' last='Hunter'] was getting to his spots and their defense was giving the Wildcats some trouble.

Then in the second quarter, Las Vegas came alive. And they made it a 21-19 game going into halftime.

Both teams really turned things up a notch in the 3rd quarter. As their weren't many misses. The Wildcats were about to head into the 4th quarter with the lead, but then the Lions dropped in another shot and it was 39-38 after 3 quarters of play.

The intensity of the game picked up even more in the 4th, and every possession held a ton of weight since it was so close.

[player_tooltip player_id='2468405' first='Amari' last='Hinds'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2471021' first='Jacory' last='Boyce'] then helped give the Wildcats the lead. Boyce was getting in the paint, and Hinds poured in a 3 to make it 60-59 with less than a minute left.

Then Somerset Losee guard, [player_tooltip player_id='1741615' first='Kieran' last='Daniel'] made a crafty maneuver to get to the cup and was fouled. He hit the first one to tie it up. But he missed the second, however [player_tooltip player_id='1668928' first='Reno' last='Gilbert'] was ready for the rebound and put it back to make it 62-60 Lions.

It looked like they might escape with a W, but Las Vegas then had the ball for the final shot with 15 seconds left.

Boyce threw it ahead to [player_tooltip player_id='2327731' first='Jakhai' last='Jones'] after the in bounds pass, and Jones drove hard to his left to get to the rack. He had to use a euro step to avoid getting a charge call, and his lay-up attempt then rolled all the way around the rim (almost in slow motion). The balls extra time on the rim gave [player_tooltip player_id='3173791' first='Trinnen' last='Young'] the perfect opportunity to tip it back in for a buzzer beater.

With all the momentum, the Wildcats then pulled away in overtime.

It was an incredibly entertaining finish, and both teams really left it all out there.

Top Performers

[player_tooltip player_id='2468405' first='Amari' last='Hinds'] was on fire from 3 point in the Wildcats victory over the Lions. He consistently found space in the corner and buried one after another. Including back to back triples in the 3rd quarter which gave Las Vegas the lead and the momentum. Then in 4th quarter he drained another (his 5th 3 of the night) and helped get the Wildcats in front. Overall, it was a very impressive shooting performance from the junior.

Stats - 16 Points

[player_tooltip player_id='2471021' first='Jacory' last='Boyce']'s constantly had defenders on their heels last night. His explosive first and second step allow him to create space. And from there he can dodge defenders in the lane to get his shot off. Some of his top highlights from last night included: a tough floater down the stretch, an impressive lay-up in overtime, and he was knocking down a majority of his free throws.

Stats - 14 Points

[player_tooltip player_id='3173791' first='Trinnen' last='Young'] made some big shots for Las Vegas Yesterday. He drained a much needed 3 for them in the 4th quarter. And was "Johnny on the spot" when [player_tooltip player_id='2327731' first='Jakhai' last='Jones'] barely missed a lay-up. He immediately grabbed it out of the air and put it right back up, and it dropped as time expired to push the game to OT. Young then had a similar bucket in overtime. After a game like that, he's definitely on pace to be a stock riser in the next rankings update.

Stats - 9 Points

[player_tooltip player_id='2327731' first='Jakhai' last='Jones'] found his rhythm early in the Wildcats win. He was doing much his damage in the paint, and had 6 fairly quick points. Then in the second half, he hit a tough turn around 2, a 3-pointer, and he knocked down some free throws in OT. On defense, he was utilizing his energy and lateral quickness to stay in front of the Losee guards. All in all, the senior played well and I liked how he competed on both ends.

Stats - 11 Points

[player_tooltip player_id='2477281' first='DJ' last='Hunter'] got off to a hot start against Las Vegas last night. He connected on a 3, a jumper, and made 2 free throws. Giving him 7 of the Lions 14 points in the first quarter. The Wildcat defenders then began to pressure him a bit more, but he still had some success getting to the rack.
