I pulled up to Bel Air, MD last night to watch both the JV and Varsity teams compete in a matchup between the home Patriots and the visiting Cardinals of Calvert Hall in a BCL matchup. Always love catching both games, if at all possible, to see the current crop of talent at the varsity level in addition to a nice group of freshmen and sophomores that have an opportunity to compete at the varsity level next season. Both games ended up being highly entertaining as well as valuable for new names as we round the corner in the new year to an updated set of rankings for our 2027-2029 classes. Let's first dive in to the W/F prospects that stood out last night!

-The Randolph Macon commit impressed throughout the game with his activity on the glass but it wasn't until the 2H that he asserted himself as a post scorer. Loved the physicality and timing of his seals under the rim to give his guards a good entry option while also keeping the ball high to avoid turnovers. Clark also came out of nowhere to block 3 shots throughout the game as an active help defender that takes pride in protecting the rim.

-Here at Prep Hoops MD we love two-sport athletes, Taylor is our latest example of that as a baseball player that also excels on the hardwood. Taylor is a plus athlete that rebounds well out of his area, doing his work fighting for position on the block early at both ends of the floor. Taylor stuck several putbacks in traffic, ran the floor hard on his rim runs, and moves really well for a young prospect that is his size and age. Expect him to be a key contributor on varsity as a defender/rebounder that finished with a double-double before fouling out in 3 quarters of play.

-The motor has really improved for Stanfield as a young prospect that can now affect the game in both phases. Stanfield started things out with a C+S 3, waited for the fly-by then stuck a midrange jumper in transition, hit a smooth crossover into a long 2, knocked down a face up 3, and anticipated the reverse layup in transition and blocked it. The most encouraging sequence came on a missed 3 of his from the wing that he followed up with a face cut and reverse layup with the left hand. Want to see Stanfield use his size/stride advantage to turn down long 2s and get to the rim for easier layups or draw fouls at the rim. Truly believe that an expanded shot diet would make him even more difficult to guard.

-This one is a long term bet as a young prospect that hasn't even scratched the season of his potential. With some serious size in his family, White has a nice skill base as a 2/3 tweener that can do a little bit of everything for his team. He hit a floater in the paint, showed nice touch on an alley layup finish off the BLOB, and has a nice bag of high and low dribble-pickups to navigate in traffic. Improving the ball-handling ability will cut down on TOs both as a passer off the live dribble and as a young guard that sometimes dribbles into a crowd. Really high on his long-term upside as a prospect.

-The offense wasn't all there today but there were enough flashes to be high on Sneed long-term as a wing prospect that uses his +size and movement skills to affect the game. Standing at 6'3 with a + wingspan, Sneed moves really well on the perimeter as a prospect that can guard 1-3 and do alright on 4s at the HS level. If he can improve his touch around the rim, he can be a really effective slasher that should earn minutes on varsity as early as next season.

-Loved Thomas' approach to the game as a workmanlike forward prospect that maximizes his opportunities on the floor. Thomas does a great job of closing out defensive possessions with a contest, rebound, and an outlet pass to get his team going the other way. Standing at least 6'5 with a great frame and strong shoulders, he projects to be a defensive force and key rotation piece when he reaches the varsity level.
