Talented Wing Prospects

New readers: Use code Proia30   I attended a few games in Montgomery County and Prince George's County this past week to see talent that may be flying under the radar a bit. There were several wing prospects whose unselfish production was very loud. Let's break down some of those prospects in further depth!      15p 1a 1b vs O'Connell   -Really have enjoyed tracking the development of the Ohio native as a dynamic 2/3 prospect that leaves a huge impact on the game at both ends of the floor. He started things off with a baseline drive and 1-handed slam, hit a C+S corner 3, grabbed a defensive board and scored on a coast to coast drive, showed a nice burst to sprint out ahead of the pack to collect an overhead pass and score in transition, scored off a jab from the wing and 1 dribble pull from the elbow, and had a good face cut for the 3-point play in the paint to make it a 7-point game late in the 4Q. LM+ coaches should be blowing up his phone to add a plug n play 2-way wing that should make a defensive impact out the gate while adding in some dynamic play-finishing and secondary scoring. Currently hearing from Ivy, Patriot, Big West, HBCU, and American East schools. Holds an offer from UMass Lowell.     8p vs Whitman   -More prospect than player right now, but with some of the physical tools and a wide skill base-- he's a name to track in MoCo basketball. Benjamin hit a corner 3 in the 1H, was a disruptive defender in the halfcourt that used his length to bother shots and poke out steals/deflect passes, and ran the wing well. A wing 3 and backdoor layup to finish with the inside hand at the rim rounded out his impact on a team with a pretty deep rotation. Interesting in tracking his development to see if he develops into more of a 2-guard or wing as he continues to grow.     15p vs Northwestern   -Liked the all-around impact that O'Brien made in a nice win for Whitman on the road against Northwest. O'Brien served as a great connector on the short roll or on baseline cuts to either score for himself or create for one of his teammates when he drew two defenders. His touch from all 3 levels stood out as a prospect that has advanced feel at this stage in his career as well. He had several key offensive rebounds and a huge and1 bucket to seal the double-digit win for his team.     15p 1a 5r 2s 4b vs Laurel   -Ellis will likely be a big mover in the next set of our updated rankings in the spring, as he is producing at a high level on the wing. Ellis stepped up from the back line of the defense to block shots as a helper, jumped passing lanes to gather two steals and several more deflections, and showed off some improved perimeter skill. The skillset was on display with a well-timed drive down the middle of the defense for an acrobatic layup around the charge, a pair of C+S threes from the wing, and several trips to the FT line. Really intriguing piece to track for the Bulldogs this season.     15p vs Northwestern   -Zedak continues to display his 2-way value as a prospect that doesn't need the ball to score, impacting the game as a versatile player that can slide up or down the lineup depending on his team's rotations each night. Zedak curled around a double screen to lace a 3, showed some good burst to recover back into the play to block a layup attempt in transition, had a nice catch and 1-dribble sidestep finish in transition, and knocked down a pair of up fake side step 3s once the defender flew past. Should be towards the top of the list for local small college programs looking for a G/W prospect.
