The top new name in Ohio, Pur made a late transfer to Spire and comes from North Carolina where he is already a name well known by high major coaches. Pur has a unique blend of ball handling, passing and perimeter skill for a prospect his size. Having a big man who can operate with the ball in his hands and stretch out the defense allows for so many creative offensive sets and to space out the defense. Pur had a big summer playing with Team CP3 on the EYBL 16 U circuit, alongside Ohio native King Kendrick.

A name who is no stranger to our rankings, Otite reclassed from 2026 to 2027 and is now a 'new name' in the 2027 class. Otite is an exceptional rim runner with the explosiveness to finish lob passes for alley-oop dunks and putback dunks off misses. Otite was a great addition to Indiana Elite's 16 U squad over the summer and has continued his impressive play for Andrew's Osborne Academy. If Otite stays in the 2027 class he will be incredibly mature his freshman year of college and ready to make an impact right away at the Division I level.

A multi-sport standout from Florida, Nelson transferred up to Spire to focus on his basketball game and has gotten some experience with the national team already this season. With a great frame and the ability to power through players in the paint for finishes and rebounds, Nelson was a standout performer at the CREI showing off his soft touch, ability to finish from the dunker spot and rebounding ability. A clear Division I talent, Nelson holds an early offer from Jacksonville but will likely see his recruitment spike this summer.

Western Reserve Academy has a pair of players from City Rocks 16 U this summer and Ioannisci is a skilled forward who can really pass the basketball. I was impressed with his skillset at his size the last time I watched Western Reserve Academy and if he shoots the basketball at a high percentage off the catch, he'll be even tougher to defend. A connector piece on the wing, Ioannisci should play a key role for the City Rocks 17 U team this summer and will be seen by Division I coaches there and during Elite Prep League action with Western Reserve Academy.

Another Western Reserve Academy prospect to watch, McCanna comes from Colorado where he brings a strong frame that wants to play through you at both ends of the court. More physical than a lot of other bigs his age, McCanna is a force down low who will overpower you if you don't push back on him. Still working on his offensive skills such as finishing and decision making with the basketball but McCanna already sets hard screens, rebounds and plays physically on both ends of the court. Excited to see McCanna the rest of the winter with Western Reserve Academy and during the grassroots season as well.
