The Indiana boys basketball season continues to roll on and Prep Hoops Indiana has been out and about providing the best coverage in the state. For me, the two latest games I was able to check out was New Palestine vs Bishop Chatard last week and Pike vs Center Grove earlier this week. With that, I thought it would be a good idea to empty out some player notes mid-week and evaluate some of the top players I saw.

Last week, the highest-rated prospect I was able to get eyes on was New Palestine sophomore shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='2560420' first='Will' last='Davison']. This was the first time I was able to watch him as the No. 1 guy for the Dragons. Watching him vs Bishop Chatard last week, he started off a little slow struggling to get shots to fall due to the length of Chatard causing him issues when trying to score. However, he exploded to 15 points in the second half which ultimately led to the Dragons getting the come-from-behind win. He is still growing as a player, but it is easily to see the potential that he has a pure scorer.

One of the more impressive all-around players I watched last week was Bishop Chatard's junior power forward [player_tooltip player_id='2831756' first='Zach' last='McCormack']. I was real impressed with what he was able to do in the summer for Team Indiana on the AAU circuit and that carried into this high school season. Being a lanky 6-foot-10, McCormack has the length and skill to be a real mismatch being able to play in the post and stretch out to wing. He is a face-up big that has a smooth jumper and is always someone you have to watch when it comes to being an abover-the-rim finisher. One of the top under-the-radar bigs in the state.

Without question, the best pure big man I watch last week was Bishop Chatard's senior center [player_tooltip player_id='2907608' first='Alex' last='Lake']. When you talk about true power and big man fundamentals, Lake is one of the best you find in the central Indiana area. He was strong in post-up actions using his strength and great footwork to take advantage of the smaller New Pal defenders. With him being the true big man and [player_tooltip player_id='2831756' first='Zach' last='McCormack'] being the stretch-four big, Chatard has a really good frontcourt that will help them win games at the Class 3A level.

There may not be a more reliable big in the central Indiana area than what senior center [player_tooltip player_id='2477115' first='Brennan' last='Dokes'] is for Pike. Got a chance to watch him with Red Devils on Tuesday night and was once again so impressed with his play around the basketball. Not only does he show a real soft touch and excellent footwork in post-up actions, he was really strong on the glass being Pike's most willing rebounder. He is going to be really good at Bethel.

Without question the player of the Pike-Center Grove game on Tuesday night was junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2194328' first='Jahari' last='Miller'], which really showed never come to any surprise. He was the game-leading scorer with 13 points making plays all over the floor. Miller can be a game-manager in any given game he is in with his elite ability to put the ball on the floor, hitting open shots, or being an all-around facilitator. Arguably the top prospect I have watched the last two-weeks.

On the Center Grove side vs Pike, it was a more balanced effort for the Trojans but the one guy that really stood out to me was their leading scorer, [player_tooltip player_id='2470624' first='Zavier' last='Laney']. The junior guard has a long frame to him but is ultra aggressive when he needs to be. He stated off the game with an ice reverse baseline layup then hit a big corner three to give Center Grove some momentum. If Laney is clicking on the floor, Trojans will always have a shot.
